I just read on The Villages Gourmet Club's FB Page (https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Villages-Gourmet-Club/241103526018764) that keke's breakfast cafe is now open.

Hooray! Can't wait!

28.00 for breakfast? Sounds like another "let's charge high prices because they are villagers" place. I won't be going there. Had breakfast at Gators dockside and it was really good for a fraction of the price.

Review posted was for a super deluxe breakfast. Pancakes, fruit, bacon and an egg for $13 isn't bad.

It's just another chain! Will stick with Billie's and Rae Rae's.

Love these shill's for the owners who claim to be patrons-they'll be history in a year-what's the big deal about a breakfast franchise--too bad the owner's got suckered

I am confused by this post. Why will they be history in a year? Why the hostility? Breakfast is my favorite meal.

Wife and I eat breakfast out at least 4 times a week and usually pay a little more than half that and usually bring some home. We're not interested.

Some folks go out to breakfast some go out to dinner or even both! Of course price matters, but I always look at quality and service.

Me - a shill?
I've been on this TOTV board for about 8 years.
Just wanted to alert other posters that I read that a new restaurant just opened.
Didn't say it was great.
Didn't say it was cheap (or expensive).
Now, I'm suddenly a "shill".

I've never heard of Keke's, but might give it a try. I wish we had Another Broken Egg Caf here.

Different strokes for different folks. Some eat food, some eat price some search for a compromise......that's why most of the breakfast places survive. When the season is in full motion all of them will have lines for breakfast.

Skip, As a person who enjoys food, I would like to Thank you for letting us know aabout kekes. Keep up the good work. Ignore the negative comments. Some people would complain if you hung 'em with a new rope.

Can be had at Denny's for about $8-9.00! Less if you have AARP Card!

Just got back. Tried it for a late lunch, but ate off the breakfast menu. Food was good, but not special. To be fair, we did not eat pancakes, which appears to be their flagship menu item. Food is a bit over priced. Add 4 strips of bacon for $3.99..a buck a slice.

Here is what struck me. The staff outnumbered the diners by a lot. I counted 25 staff members....20 in black and 5 in white (supervisors). You can see into the kitchen, so the 20 includes the kitchen staff. At one time, seven of the wait staff were standing together in a group chatting...the restaurant version of the office water fountain. It is a big room with what I would assume to be a big utility bill and along with the payroll and rest of the overhead, I think it will be hard for them to crack the nut, especially since they are not golf cart accessible.

We went on Saturday and today. I had an omelette on Saturday with potatoes and toast. The potatoes were very salty, too much pepper and few of them. The omelette was a good size but certainly not 'fluffy'. The toast was soggy from the butter and barely toasted. My hubby had 2 eggs, potatoes and toast. The bill was about $20.00. We had one order of 3 pancakes and a side order of ham this morning and the bill was about $18.00 with tip. I thought it was a little high for this morning but no complaints regarding Saturday morning. I will say I their pancakes are the best I've had here in Florida. The service was beyond good. Both mornings, the place had about 4 tables of customers.....hopefully they will do better or they won't be able to survive! The place is nice inside and quite large. I would definitely go back again ~ hoping they 'tone down' the potatoes or I'll just order them without any seasoning, if possible. We did like Keke's more than Rae Rae's although we have only been to Rae Rae's once.

It's not unusual for a restaurant company opening a new location to bring in experienced staff from other places to help out and continue training. When my son opened a new place in Tampa, they brought in staff from CT, Atlanta, and even the corporate chef for a few weeks. Another factor that surprised me was the number of people he hired that showed up one day and not again. He's now in Atlanta for an opening there. So, I doubt the level of staffing you saw will continue. If it does, I agree that's a large nut to overcome.

Chatbrat:
Now how do you know that?

The people who write reviews are all...
1. residents of The Villages and
2. are dues paying members of the club.
If you read the review (http://thevillagesgourmetclub.com/page2.html#B062k), it says:
"Large menu; but small font size....Our total came to $28 before t&t. Pretty high for breakfast."
The reviewer gave it a 12 out of 15 Stars. (Not a perfect score by any means.)

So you think that's the restaurant owner rating his own place do you?

The Gourmet Club (http://thevillagesgourmetclub.com/info.html) has a lot more integrity than that and you don't see one bit of advertising on their website. Seems to me they serve our residents (for almost 10 years now), not the restaurants.

So I respectfully disagree. I don't see any "shills" here.

Only been to the Keke's near Mall of Millenia and can't say enough about it. NOT your average breakfast. Yes pricey but for us well worth it. Made it our main meal for the day! So glad it's open we'll be trying it out I have had their banana split waffle and omg it's to die for....LOL Love their potatoes and hubby loves their pancakes, best round. That said Rae Raes is favorite of ours here but Keke's I feel has a unique menu. When I want just your basic good breakfast it's Fruitland Park Cafe for us.

No, I am not that clever. You just go to lmgtfy.com and put in the search term. It will then give you a link to copy.

Myself and 3 other girls went to Keke"s today next to Kirkland's. The service was very good and they serve breakfast all day. They do have a lunch menu also. I had stuffed French Toast. It was stuffed with caramel, nutella, cream cheese and pecans. It was delicious. My sister-in-law had a waffle with fresh bananas and whipped cream. One friend had a really nice omelet served with whole grain toast and Nice fresh fruits and the other had a salad tossed in an oriental dressing with fresh chicken. We all agreed the food and service were good. It seems like they are doing a soft opening before advertising. I would definitely go back. The pancakes are huge and look very good. The inside of the restaurant is all new and clean. Their prices are a little high but their menu is a little different from traditional breakfast locations.

Wife and I went to Keke's Breakfast Cafe for lunch today. At 1:00 PM, it was crowded but we were able to sit right down. We both had "lunch" rather than breakfast, which was very tempting. We both enjoyed the food and would like to return for breakfast. Pumpkin pancakes with bananas and pecans sounded like a a nice variation for breakfast.
