Lost partial power at 3:27 pm and am unable to reach SECO as the line is busy. Some lights at reduced power, no air conditioning nor range. Anyone have and info as to why the power is out? Thanks.

People never turn off the main breaker--turn off the individual breakers-
Lots of times the main will not reset--then you're SOL

I do it all time when I need to, never a problem, that's what's there for isn't?

Notified that 12,200 people are without power in southern portions of The Villages. We have no power here in Duval north of 466A. Had brown out for about 10 mins then no power at all.

Yes. Common in Florida, with or without storms.

40+ years in Florida...one fairly brief outage, and it was hurricane related.

To the person who says turn off the main breaker-they are not switch rated-lot easier to replace an individual breaker than the main--made a lot of money when I was in business replacing main breakers that wouldn't reset or handles that broke off

not in north florida. We lost power in 2004 and '05 due to hurricanes and that was the last time. I've lost it three times in 10 months here with yesterdays being the longest.

I must agree . I found SECO employees to be cooperative and responsive to the needs of their customers. I worked 34 years in design for a Major Electric/Gas utility. Yes we are in the lightning capital of the county. There is protection on the line (lightning arrestors) to provide a path for lightning to go to ground to protect system.
I've had one outage in 11 years .
Normally your refrigerated products will be fine -just keep the doors closed.

When it is a major line it takes more time. I am sure they did the best they could.

SECO was out in force, we were out and as we came south on Buena Vista, saw the first SECO truck at 466A, then 4 or 5 more by the time we got to 44, and then 2 or 3 more by the time we got to Powell.
I also worked for a major utility for 40 plus years (substation design), and I am familiar with the time required for switching facilities out of service (after the fault is found), applying safety grounds, getting repair parts, making the repair, removing grounds, testing if necessary, and returning the equipment to service.
The photo showed a line that appeared to by 69,000 volts or higher, with the repair 70 feet in the air, this does take some time to complete.
IMHO SECO did a great job.

Not true, been here 12 years, maybe a couple outages
Where does the common in Florida come from?
