Classified Ads Showing

Since the update, I am seeing classified ads, even though I have opted out of seeing the classifieds. I tried logging out and logging back in, but they are still showing.

The Hide Classifieds/Show Classifieds buttons are still showing, so I assume this option is still available.:shrug:

I have tried and tried to hide the classifieds.......

The "Hide Classifieds" button, icon, tab -- whatever it is called -- does not work for me, no matter whether I am on the iPad or the laptop. -- Sometimes it seems to take away a few of them but it never really works.

There was a time when I did not mind seeing those ads in the lineup. Although I rarely opened one, I could scroll past the titles quickly.

But now, when I look at TOTV, the list of new posts looks like all classifieds all the time.

Is it that there really are more and more classified thread starts that look like individual sellers are trying to sell the contents of their sock drawer one sock at a time?

Is it my imagination or is it not so easy to find regular posts now? Are there fewer posters because they gave up trying to find their way out from under a huge pile of classifieds?

I recognize that TOTV is a business and that numbers sell to the paying advertisers and that the free classifieds are a part of those numbers.

One recent morning, I guess I must have been really bored, trying to find something to read, and so I counted the ads on the first two pages and then I counted the regular posts and ran the percentages. How nerdy is that. (blush)

I appreciate the theory that I am able to opt out of the classifieds, but I cannot seem to make that actually happen.

Oh well, maybe I should just be glad that I am not paying much attention to TOTV anymore and wasting time writing silly posts when I should be getting some work done.......like I am doing right now......

Did you try logging out and logging back in and then hitting the Hide Classifieds button. I had classifieds hidden until I wanted to sell something (one major item, not 35 items in 35 separate ads, all under $2.59), but I couldn't get to the classifieds without logging out and then logging back in. Maybe it would work in reverse for you.
