We have 2 squirrels who have taken up residency on our lanai roof. They love walking up and down the screens. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get rid of them?

Get a "Have-A-Heart" trap and trap them. Then relocate them far away and hope they don't find their way back.

If there is a food source nearby, it's probably why they are there. We had them running up and down our pool screen and it gave the cat some entertainment and they formed a strange friendship. They were so light there was no damage. If you do relocate them take them far away and near a big old oak tree. They won't come back. Too many squirrels can get into attics and cause damage especially if there are not an abundance of tall trees for them to live and survive.
In the north, we feed them peanuts along with the chipmunks and delight in their presence but here there seems no place of their own and so they become a nuisance...but to them..we are the nuisance. There is still lots of forest in Florida to place them so off they go but please don't kill them.

We have them from time to time over the last 11 years.
They have not caused any damage for all the running around they do on the screens. They have taken up the sport of tempting our dalamatian.

Hope there are only two. In Ohio our house was surrounded by large trees. Hubby fed the birds but the squirrels would wreck the bird feeder and run off the birds. He tried everything including a live trap. One week he live trapped 17 squirrels and drove them 10 or more miles away and released them into a woods. Before a week was up those 17 were replaced by just as many as he had carted away. He finally got rid of the bird feeder.

I have the same issue and do worry that they may take up residency in my attic . i spoke to a pest control guy and he told me that it was unlikely. I did not agree. The squirrels are attracted to pine trees that run adjacent to my home and would chew pine cones on my bird cage roof causing quite a mess
So is there anyone living in TV that actually had a squirrel take residency in his/her attic?
I am going to speak with another pest control guy to see if there is a viable solution

We had squirrels that took up residence both in a tall tree next to our carport and then up under the roof of the carport and lanai. Lady Lake animal control could only offer to trap and release on our own property - County does not permit relocation! So we had to hire a private trapper to trap and remove! $300 set-up fee and $100 each visit to remove! Thank goodness mother and babies liked the bait and all were trapped and relocated together. Thank goodness, too, that we got them gone before they moved into the house! Not very expensive to have the tree cut back after they were gone so it was all money well spent.

njbchbum: Thank you for your kind reply. I may just explore that option

You could find someone that likes stew. I know cruel. We use a safe catch trap that they trigger walking in. Good for possums , cats and raccoons.

You have pine cones...they will keep coming and your screen must be handy to them. Some people put plastic snakes around to shoo such critters away. To get in the attic they need way in and it's possible but not probable they will chew their wAy inside when there are lots of trees neArby. squirrels, ducks, birds I can take.....

The pine trees belong to the golf course and all five stand directly behind my house. The squirrels get their treat climb up the sidewalls to the top of the bird cage and feast. I have to use precious and expensive water to wash away the remainder of their feast. Nothing I have tried thus far has deterred these pesky critters

I think traps are a temporary fix. Food for squirrels here is scarce and those pine cone seeds enticing to a starving squirrel.
