The moving van comes Monday and after two years as part timers we finally become full time Villagers Tuesday.

We have made several donations to a local charity in Georgia but could not finish downsizing in time, so we know we will be taking things that we will want to donate once we get to TV.

We need suggestions for charities who will do pickup.

Thanks for any advice.

We just donated a sofa and loveseat to Our Mothers Attic in Wildwood. They work with St. Vincent de Paul Catholic church. Their donations are sold and the proceeds used for local charities. We thought it was a worthwhile cause. Their number is 352-689-0128 and yes, they do pick up.

Bargains and Blessings is located in Wildwood on 301. They are affiliated with the New Covenant United Methodist Church in the Villages. All workers are volunteers and the profits of sales are used for Christian ministries.
Call (352) 330-3333 Tuesday-Saturday.

Thanks to all for your responses.

Since we will be joining New Covenant (have visited several times while in TV) we will check out Bargains and Blessings.

The Salvation Army is dismally unresponsive and cancelled on us three times without informing us because they could not find the address, despite the fact I gave them my phone number for the driver to call if he can't find us...he never called. Today, for the fourth time, we were supposed to have a pick up between 12 and 3 pm. I went on line at 12:45 only to discover that they had us listed as completed pick up, when in fact we were here the whole time and no one showed. I called and left a message, but no return call ever came. We finally gave up in total frustration, but found a beautiful Goodwill super store in Oxford, only a few minutes drive from The Villages. They have a drive up and drop off area, where personnel will assist you to unload. Very easy, very quick, and you can do it on your own schedule without having to wait for the boneheads at Salvation Army to show up. So guess what? While we're at the Goodwill store, a driver calls from Salvation Army and says he's at the front door. Unbelievable.
