Would love to have some of you express your opinions on the pros and cons of purchasing in Marion County vs. the other counties. Taxes, roads, services, etc. etc. Any reasons to stay out of Marion County? Thanks

Marion County:
District 4, all the reason one needs to move into Marion County. Marion County kept the developers interests here to a small scale.

I think everywhere in The Villages is terrific. Whether it be Sumter, Marion or Lake County, we have the early vision of Mr. Schwartz and the later business acumen of his heirs. It each has it's strong points. There is something for everyone.

I spoke to some people (Two couples)who live there who have sold their golf carts because they said it was too far to go anywhere on it. However, I also know someone who only uses a golf cart and has no problem with that. Get a cart and wander around there to see if it is a problem for you. Everyone is different in there wants and needs.

The ONLY problems I see in Marion county are all those compass points and numbers on the street signs.

Other than the reply above, the primary advantage of living in Sumter rather than Marion is the influence one has with county gov't. In Marion, number of TV residents in relation to the county as a whole is minuscule. TV is no more important to Marion than any other mid-size housing development. In Sumter, TV is really the straw that stirs the drink. It is the major source of jobs, taxes, and votes in the county. In Sumter, you know your Commissioners personally, regularly seeing them on the Squares or at about any public gathering. Law enforcement and other county officials routinely speak at neighborhood and club meetings. You're just more a part of the county in Sumter. And your street name isn't 75 characters long.

Don't want to get too close to the trains in Marion County as you can read in other posts in TOTV.

Thank you Muncle. I was gonna say that, but Lady Kathleen got me sidetracked.
