Need info re: Oncologist

My wife had a lumpectomy about 10 years ago prior to moving here. She was referred to an internist/oncologist when we arrived here. However her present doctor is retiring at the end of the year. She has not had any further problems in the past 10 years. Because of the time she has been cancer free I am thinking that she doesn't need an oncologist any more and I would like to have her see my gp as I feel he is very good.

Just want to throw this out there to see other opinions. We don't have to make any decisions now but will have to by the end of the year.

I would suggest she continue to be followed periodically by an oncologist, but she should also see your GP/Internist if she does not have one. They are not interchangeable.
