I do not go to this store unless we're short of something we really need. After numerous trips and observations of customers that are exiting . The establishment is nothing more than a glorified 7-11. Very few carts are filled as compared to Publix and they are filled with last minute items forgotten to complete a meal.
Their produce is junk, compared to Publix--the organization, layout & knowledge of employees leaves a lot to be desired. Most important management does't give a damn.

Winn-Dixie? Is that the company that donated its entire profit of over $3 Million earned on July Fourth to the Wounded Warriors Project?

I take advantage of the BOGOs at Winn Dixie and Publix. I have found the WD on 466A to be clean and the employees pleasant.

If you think my cart looks empty, you should see my fridge and cupboards! My cart isn't filled because it's only DH and I and I now have time to shop for only a few days at a time. I store a few basics, but that's about it.

WD----no doubt a very benevolent company. Publix could use some competition. The WD on 466A is a new facility, clean and there is no "good" reason for empty shelves or poor produce EXCEPT poor management and lack of training of employees.
One can only wonder (as a company) why can't they get their act together.

So glad you posted......always good to hear of those places that are beneath you. Since you don't shop there, or like the store, why would you put this thread out there?

Yes, but that does not make it a nice store.

I shop weekly at the newer Publix at Transverse Shopping Center since they opened last October and to a lesser amount at Winn Dixie at Pinellas Plaza, mainly because they have an actual salad bar.
Two things I have noticed. At Publix for example, if an item is $4.99 on sale for 3 for $10, you can buy just 1 or 2 and you will get the sale price, as in this case $3.33 each. At W/D using the same example, if you buy just 1 or 2 items you'll be paying the regular price of $4.99 each.
I've also noticed is whenever an item is on sale at Publix, it is always in the computer, you can bet you're life on it. At W/D, there is a good chance the computer won't have the sale price. Almost everytime we shop there, we catch at least one item that is rung up at the full price, not the sale price. It's usually easy for me to catch, because the sale is the main reason I'm even stopping at W/D.
However, catching the error is a little difficult because at W/D the viewing screen is attached to the cashier's register on the other side of the conveyor belt and has small print, so you have to look at small print at about a 3' away. At Publix the viewing screen is right next to where you put in your credit card right next to where you stand. At Publix it is very easy to see exactly what each item is ringing up for.

I have to disagree with your statement (that I put in bold type above) that at W/D if something is one sale, to use your example, at 3 for $10 that you must buy 3 to get the sale price.
I shopped at W/D in Pinellas Plaza today and bought one container of hamburger buns that were on sale at 2 for $4. I was charged $2, not the regular price of $2.59. Similarly, I bought one container of Borden cheese slices that was on sale at 2 for $5. I was charged $2.50, not the regular price of $3.49. This may not always occur for their sale items, but it did today for those 2 purchases.
I have noticed at W/D that sometimes the sale price is not always in the computer and also sometimes where the sale price sign has remained up even after the sale is over.
All in all, I am glad that we have more than one grocery chain to choose from so we can look through ad circulars each week from both stores to find items at reduced prices.

Yes, but that does not make it a nice store.
I think WD IS a nice store. The employees are responsive and personable. The store manager has personally helped me find items on numerous occasions. Their prices are reasonable (more reasonable generally than Publix) and I don't have to fight my way up and down to isles. It's easier to find parking, and I just used $2.40 per gallon in fuel perks to buy diesel for my car. WD is also a better partner with our community.
All in all I prefer WD. Oh! And their prices are lower overall. Imagine that.

It's definitely nice to have a choice. And no matter where I live, I always seem to like the produce better in one store over the other, perhaps meats in the other, and just try to shop the sales. I have found both the Publix in Traverse and Winn Dixie in Pinellas to be very clean.

Well put.
We do most of our shopping at Winn-Dixie. We find it to be a lovely place to shop. Clean, friendly, and well-stocked.

When I was a kid I worked in a fruit and vegetable store so I am really picky. Not all fruits and veggies are in season all year, so I frequently end up substituting something that is in season.
I agree with your comment but believe it is due more to seasonal fluctuations than the specific grocery chain.

Is Publix employee owned? Maybe the OP is an "owner" just trying to promote their business. You have to take all internet reviews, good or bad, with a few grains of salt. Many have a horse in the race.

Yes, Publix is employee owned. They dominate the grocery business in Florida. The Publix locations in TV are filled to capacity and beyond with or without threads from the OP bashing WD.
