Just curious; I am sure most of you have seen the commercials on television about the The Villages. Are the people featured in these commercials truly Villagers or paid actors?

I don't know but that one lady in the convertible on the villages web site looks an awful lot like one of our own TOTV posters from the pictures taken at Crispers!! ;D

I don't know about the abbreviated 30 or 60 second commercials but they definitely use real residents for the DVD/promotional video they send out. I recognized a couple of people in there.
If I had to guess, I would guess that they are real residents and not actors. Don't have to pay residents to appear ;D

At The Penn State Club bash at Tierra Del Sol CC Sat there was a major video production with a lady getting signature releases. I asked her what this was for...." A Villages Commercial"... was the answer....and I'm no professional!

Our next door neighbors were asked over a year ago to have pictures taken and submit to a recorded interview. We kid them now about the frequency of their appearance in the newspaper or other printed media, and their familiar voices on TV ads on WVLG.
While their opinions and enthusiasm is real, they weren't paid a dime.

During our first couple of visits to TV before we decided to move here, I could have sworn that the people we met on the street gushing over TV were paid actors - o my gosh, The Truman Show!

I keep checking several over55 websites. Compare the lady in the On Top of the World ad with the lady in the convertible. Same?

We got out the DVD and played it last night to see and I think that the woman in the convertible may look a tadd like Village07, but Village07 is more attractive by far and I hope to god I don't run into the other person.
Also, we put in a "new" DVD and it was much longer than the one we had previously viewed and now we are going to buy another house, it was so convincing. (JUST KIDDING)

The "paid actors" are in the sales centers. The real Villagers are on this site.

During one of the Camp Villages activities last year, the camera crew came in and asked anyone interested in being filmed to sign a release. About 8 grandparents/grandchildren were interviewed and 2 made it onto the DVD; us being one of them. We had no advance notice and were not told what to say. Great experience :)
