My husband and I just bought in Bonita. We are very excited and look forward to meeting our neighbors. In the meantime, we have a few questions. We are buying a lot of our furniture down there , but we have a few pieces of furniture we would like to get from NH to TV. Does anyone know the best way to get just a few pieces moved? Also, since there are no neighbors living on our street yet, how do we go about finding a good lawn maintenace company and pest control company? We will not be down there for a few months after closing. Thanks for your help!

Welcome TO PARADISE!!! :welcome: :welcome:

We pulled a U Haul trailer twice with things we wanted to bring or had purchased in Cincinnati. We have a Chrysler Town and Country Van and had to have a hitch put on it. We turned the trailer in in nearby Leesburg after running down to Ikea in Orlando and picking up three or four pieces we wanted to buy. Was not a chore to pull at all. Don't worry, when you arrive with a trailer, every gardener, grass cutter, bug getter, welcome wagon, everyone will visit you the first day you are there.

As for lawn maintenance, I'd ask your next-door neighbors who they use and if they like them. It is much easier, and looks nicer, if the lawns are done at the same time. They might give you a discount, but I don't know. I doesn't hurt to ask.

If you're young and healthy do your own lawn. I o my own (use Scott's products), am no expert and have the lushest, greenest lawn in the neighborhood. I wonder if some of these companies actually have fertilizer in their tanks.

Check U-Pack or PODS out.

Thank you for your suggestions. The problem is our neighborhood is new and nobody is living there yet. That and the fact that we are still up North and won't be there when people do start moving in makes asking the neighbors a problem. If we were going to live there full-time fertilizing the lawn ourselves would certainly be an option, but not in our circumstances. I am just trying to find a way to keep our property up from the time we close this month to the time we get down there. I do see several ads but I thought personal experience would be better. Again, thank you.

My husband found this web site several months ago and we are now admitted lurkers! This site has been helpful to us because we purchased in December 2005 but are not yet full time residents. Our dream will become a reality, after he retires, in April or May 2009! You are going to love living here!

We have been using D & J Baker's Lawn Service, Inc. for almost 3 years and highly recommend them. They really do a great job and keep us informed about our lawn condition when we are back in our in Pennsylvania. They were recommended by neighbors on our street and we couldn't be happier with our decision to use them.

Thanks for all the information you have been providing. Look forward to getting to know all of you better and meeting you next time we are "back home" again!

Another vote for Bakers for the lawn cutting. They're reliable and that says a lot right there.

A couple of clients of mine use Dean's for pest control and they've done a good job from what I can see.

I have used both of these services for several years and many of my neighbors have switched to them, Laguna Lawn 352-638-4347 ask for Joshua, Bay Area Pest Control 352-245-4522 ask for Cindy, tell them Ed on Grant Way sent you, they both do a great job. Good Luck....GN

We have been in the same house in the small town of Hatboro, Pennsylvania, for over 40 years and can't wait to put our home on the market and move to our dream home in Poinciana! My daughter lives in Douglassville, PA. so we have been to Reading on many occasions. We have also been to the Sovereign Center in Reading to see Gordon Lightfoot and will be going back to see Celtic Thunder in November! Oops, forgot to mention the Reading Phillies! What a great place to enjoy games in a nice family atmosphere.

Will update my profile as soon as I figure out how... Also, I forgot to give "Coming to Bonita" the phone number of D & J Baker's Lawn Service, Inc. Dawn and Joe can be reached at 352-638-2400 and they have provided us with excellent service for almost three years.

Hope your weekend goes well and "Ike" keeps a low profile!

we're next door in Hemingway, welcome to TV.

Although just here part time so far, I've done my own lawn maintenance and it hasn't gotten out of hand at all, just fyi.

Hi all,

Thanks for the welcome! In the neighborhood we just moved from, we were one of the first buyers and it made it easy to meet our neighbors as they were all new as well. We'll throw a party once we get settled - let the fun begin!
