At the end of May, we purchased a bundle from Verizon with the promise of a $200 gift card from American Express. Two agents and the sales person have told me that we were eligible. I spent lots of my time today (the card never came) trying to rectify the problem. Now, they tell me that I'm not eligible for the card.

Besides this, they billed me for two things which they shouldn't have. I think Vonage is getting me as a customer very soon. I wanted to switch to them when we come to TV anyway.

I don't have much patience anymore. (Could it be age?) Merchants who do this kind of stuff lose my business.

Isn't "Verizon customer service" an oxymoron, kinda like "military intelligence"? Great idea in theory, doesn't seem to exist in actuality. Hope you get some satisfaction from them.

We have Vonage here in the Villages for the last year and a half and the service has been excellent. No problems at all. We do not even have a land line into the house. No Embarg). Vonage is so much cheaper than the land line service. No charge for long distance. No taxes and surcharges. Since we travel a lot in our RV we are able to go on the internet while traveling and pull up all phone calls into our house while we are gone. Ray

Jan, sorry to hear that you had such a bad experience with Verizon. I've had them for my cell and computer card for about 10 years, the phone customer service person was really bad but I went to the store on Rolling Acres and 441/27, and I can't tell you how wonderful those people were. They went 110% over and above for me and I actually sent a message to the home office about them. I needed a new computer card and the phone customer service wouldn't give it to me, but at the store, they realized that the current card was broken, and they gave me a brand new one free. They also worked on my computer to recognize the card and they spent at least 2-3 hours totally on my problem. I couldn't thank them enough. Most of the instore service people are excellent. I'll be keeping Verizon now that I moved to TV, just so I can go back and visit the store on rolling acres, they were fantastic people.

Good luck, my ex-hubs got the Magic Jack and all I hear is my voice echoing into the background, and if you don't think that's annoying, wait till you hear my voice in person.....

We have Verizon and I never had any problems with our phones, our service or dead zones. Now if you want to talk about promising gift cards and never sending them, let's talk about Massey the bug and lawn people! Took us 18 months and LOTS of phone calls to people at different levels to finally get the $50. Target card. Boo hiss on them!

Very strange. We've had Verizon Wireless for years and have had nothing but positive experiences regarding the few times we've contacted customer service. The folks at their store were friendly and great to deal with as well. I rate them

RayB,

What service do you use for the internet because Vonage requires internet to use it?

I should say that I have no problems with Verizon service - few outages, etc. That's not my beef.

We have Vonage for home /business line and can have a local number and a NY number and it works great! We have comcast for internet and I have not had a problem yet!

I have verizon for my cell phone and Kath I need to know who you talked to over there...they wouldn't help me with my phone at all! I was very upset....we pay them a lot of money and it was disappointing!

Sailor has Verizon Wireless, I have Sprint........no problems .

In Staten Island, it took me six weeks to have our business telephone (in home) disconnected and a distinctive line added for a fax. I was beyond boo hiss, I was FRUSTRATED. However, we have FIOS for computer and NO problems at all.

In TV, I have Comcast broadband and it is just as good as FIOS internet.

With our cell phones getting signals here, ( in NY no signal in home for Verizxon Wireless), we use Magic Jack and love it.

I used to be a Business Rep for NY Telephone and wonder what happened to CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Customer service? What's that? I'm still waiting for the manager to call me.

I have a verizon cellphone. When I am down there, I update to the local towers, but still get very poor reception.

When I went to the verizon store just south of the Villages across from Home Depot, the girl tried everything and ended up telling me, "I think your phone is just used to New York." ??? ??? (Like it was a person or something)

I would lose signal all over the Leesburg area, The Villages, and The Plantation. It was fine over by Hwy 75, Orlando, Tampa, etc......just not Leesburg. :dontknow:

I might be forced to get a new phone. :'(

Laugh if you will, Frank, but it may well be your phone. Some just don't seem to have good antennas. I've been all over TV and up and down 27/441 and have yet to have a problem with my Verizon phone. It is an older model (more than 2 years old) Samsung. You can probably get a new one for a song.

I LOVE my Verizon service and have a wonderful signal everywhere around TV.
Anytime I have ever had to contact customer service, I've gotten great help.
I hope it continues here in FL.

All of our friends and family are Verizon users also, so altho we share 700 mins., in the last 3 weeks we have used 4600 mins., but only 550 of them count because of the 'in calling'.

Do plan to try the MagicJack when they get a 352 exchange for the business calls and etc. tho.

Excellent connection for mobile broadband internet wireless in my laptop in TVs. Heck, I had to read TOTV during the slow songs last night at LSL because I was out having fun all day!! Excellent connection!! Phone is great, also. I do have a problem in my daughters CB/stucco an hour south. Could that be a problem here? :dontknow: I have had a few dead spots in Ocala in/near the Ocala National Forest.

We have two services: Verizon and AT&T. The phones are more than four years old & have original batteries. We have used the phones since May in TV and while at times the "bars" indicate low/no reception, I have been always able to make a call and had but one call dropped in TV. Similarly, we have recd calls, never having a Voice Message, showing up that we had not heard ring previously.

May be it's the unit you have? Ours are old Motorola and LG units that are not fancy, aside from having picture capability. I plan to keep 'em 'till the batteries need to be replaced.

I couldn't agree more, though I'd have to say that Embarq competes well with Verizon for the most awful customer service. In all fairness, though, I'd have to say that the telephone service itself, for both companies, is generally quite good; it's when one needs customer service that one can tire of sitting and watching the grass die....

Well, since the Verizon manager never called me as promised, I switched to Vonage. Wanted to do that anyway before we come to TV so we could bring our phone number with us. We'll see how this works out.
