I thought it was a good draft and the picks went well. It is always disheartening to watch some of your draft roster players disappear to another team. Then you have to hustle to find a suitable replacement. Three of my hot players went before I got to the second round.

Ah - such is life. Now the fun begins. Adjusting the roster for week one.

Good luck all.

I thought it went great, except I too lost players just before I was going to pick 'em.
Thanks.

Caveman, thanks for picking Romo so I could get LT, that's a clever pick on your part, I didn't see it coming.

Hey,

I missed all the fun. Flashplayer never loaded. I was READY to draft and as I look back on my automatic picks and the order of players taken, I realize I would have chosen only one two of the players I ended up with. So now the fun will be to see which of my teams does better.
I assume my position players will start in week one and the BNs will sit. Is there a list of undrafted players somewhere from which I can pick up free agents? If I ditch a kicker for example, can I pick up an extra WR?

ps: new fight song... "We're gonna Do It To the Orange & Blue"

you can still make any roster changes you want til 5 minutes before game time (so yahoo says) , I've made some already. check for injuries, make swaps

you can go to the player list and pick up any available player (undrafted),
you can make trades too. I'll check your list, maybe give you a good deal.

sorry the draft table didn't load right

Just out of curiosity What does % owned under Trends mean?

JohnN
09-03-2008, 08:15 PM
zcaveman,
I believe that's the % of the time that player is owned under all yahoo leagues.

So Romo, Brady, LT, etc are 100%

zcaveman
09-04-2008, 12:44 AM
Caveman, thanks for picking Romo so I could get LT, that's a clever pick on your part, I didn't see it coming.

I have always gone for a QB first. His game usually makes or breaks you. I found out that Romo is on the cannot cut list. Hope he stays healthy!! LT and Peterson were on my list but further down.

BTW: I had my wife for a standby in case Bart the dog had to go out. She actually enjoyed the whole thing.

ijusluvit

John's right about my WRs. In fact, as I've told him, my whole team looks pretty good. I was all ready to draft and the flashplayer didn't load properly. So I ended up with auto picks. I studied the draft results and determined that if I had been picking, I'd only have taken 1 or 2 of the players I have now. I'm going to watch the players I'd have picked but I've got the sneaking suspicion the computer is WAY smarter than me.

Good luck to all! (that is except O&B. Can you hear my catchy new fight song: We're Gonna DO IT TO the Orange & Blue)

Who decided that we have to have players on the "can't cut list"? Is this a Yahoo thing or is it a selectable option.

If it is selectable, I would opt for it to go away. I have four players on the "can't cut list".

Z

JohnN

Can't cut list -

yahoo hard coded rule:

Q- How does the Can't Cut list work?

A- Many of the best players in the game are on this list throughout the season. When a player is on this list, he cannot be waived from a team under any circumstances—even if he's injured.

The Can't Cut list, which is updated when necessary to account for injury or performance issues, prevents managers at the bottom of the standings from changing the league dynamics by waiving all of their outstanding players. Players are added and removed from the list as appropriate during the season.

This list does not affect your ability to swap a player between active and bench, or make a trade involving him.

The Can't Cut list applies to all leagues, Public and Custom, in Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football and cannot be modified or eliminated from individual Custom Leagues.

zcaveman

Bummer.

dang
09-09-2008, 01:24 AM
so one would assume that Tom Brady is on the can't cut list. With him now out for the season that would mean that the manager that drafted him started out with a great catch but now could be stuck with a bench warmer for the season. Thant is a bummer (if he is on that no cut list).

d

zcaveman
09-09-2008, 02:14 AM
That is my question. If he i out forthe season, the can't cut status should go away. In the real world they are allowed to replace the player.

Can who ever has Brady let us know what the status is?

Z

JohnN
09-09-2008, 10:09 AM
re: Tom Brady
Yahoo has him on injured reserve and while he WAS on the can't cut list, he was "released" from it (by yahoo) and whoever owned him was able to drop him.

Guys, do you understand yahoo's logic about not wanting folks to screw up the league?

Anyway, I believe if Brady were out a week or two, he'd indeed be kept on the can't cut list. Given he's out for the season, yahoo removed the can't cut designation.

This is a system controlled check and balance thing, not a league decision.

dang
09-09-2008, 02:22 PM
Yup I do get it. I think that it will become even more appearant later in the season when some of us are way down on the bottom of the list and have no chance of placing in top 3 in the league. It would be all too easy to just give key players away to someone who is still in the running. Makes complete sense to me! We are not playing for any big prize in our league but so leagues do and that would make a bigger unfair/skewed result and simply would not be any fun. I think it is good!

dang and all,

In my son's 8 team league (which I'm trying to emulate here my first time setting one up),
the top 4 teams have a 2 week playoff for the championship.

In his league, the last 4 teams play a consolation playoff, which is still interesting and fun.

I don't know with 10 teams, if our league here does the consolation playoff, may just be the top 4 teams.

Yep, all in fun!

To all the players in the TOTV league. Don't forget to sign into the Fantasy Football site and make sure that your team is set. This should be a weekly activity. You might have injured players that need to be replaced. Players on your first string that did not play. You might want to make a change with a bench player or trade for a new player. Once the bye weeks start, you will lose players in the slots where that team has a bye.

Good luck to all this coming Sunday and Monday.

I need some wide receivers if anyone has some quality guys and looking to trade. I'm willing to consider giving up Big Ben Roethlisberger and I have a lot of quality running backs. Make me a fair offer!

Especially those 6 of us playing below .500 and out of the playoffs (yeah, I know it's early), maybe we need to shake it up a bit.

ijusluvit
09-25-2008, 06:53 PM
Hey John,

I'll give some thought to a trade as soon as I get a minute. I agree we should shake things up. How cool it would be if I got Ben and then he went bonkers this week (teehee).

BTW, I got a nasty sounding email from Yahoo saying the trade you proposed earlier for Jake D could never happen, etc. because I had apparently not answered your request. I thought I responded to you that I wasn't ready to trade at that time.

Nah, I'm enjoying my zero score. None of the my California friends can believe it. Just for the heck of it, I conned them into letting me into their league late and getting most of the same players. I did have to do some begging, blackmailing and guilt tripping to get Cutler so that things would be close to the same. I'm in second place in that league and would be in first if I could have gotten Tennessee for my defense. roflao

TY!! I kept looking for them but could never find the point standings. (And I now feel much better about my guys. I knew they weren't as bad as my record said they were. ;)

red, when you go into yahoo, an click on the league name, you go to the standings. It's one of the line items in the standings along with won-loss, pct. games behind, win streak, etc.

My guys aren't bad either, they're just pacing themselves to the finish LOLOLOL :a040:

Week 11 , only 3 weeks to go and it's a scramble for those 4 playoff spots.
Also, we had a tie game (ala Eagles - Bengals) between Da Bears and PATS08.
Next week is the last week for trades. Good luck, all

sorry red, that was a typo, I can't cut and paste to this forum readily, all format is lost (I've told tony what I'd like to do, but it's apparently a no-go)

Next week is the last week for trades.

John - can you qualify this comment about trades. Are you talking me trading with you or me going to the player pool and swapping out players or both??

Thanks, Z

zcaveman, Nov28 is the last week for trades between teams. you can always go to the free agent pool and pick up unowned players.

It was the battle of the titans. My Patsies had racked up an impressive 91 pts and had a 24 pt lead on the powerful Giants going into last night's Drew Brees show. So I lost by six. But I left an extra 33 pts on the bench.

Sometimes it's just the coaching that sucks.

MelZ

ijusluvit;

Gotta say that going into that game I was sweating your lead. Remember the coach gets the blame for losses and the credit for wins. Both are usually undeserved.

Hey John,

Somebody voted me the winner on our matchup page! (good omen) But do you suppose I've got a chance against Da Bears when my powerhouse Boldin gets a single point? (bad omen)

I've been out of town and just now back to a computer! SORRY.
Here are the Week 13 standings, 3 of the 4 playoff spots are now taken.
PATS08 has all but iced the remaining 4th spot, but Orange&Blue can take it if 1) PATS08 loses 2) Orange & Blue wins and 3) O&B outscores PATS08 by 55 points. Congrats to big blue, The Cavement and Giants among men for clinching playoff spots.

With tonights game to go, it appears the top 4 teams are holding their places,
so the playoffs for next week appear to be as follows:

#1. big blue vs. #4 PATS08
#2 The Cavemen vs. #3 Giants among men

The remaining teams contend (I think, never done this) in a consolation super bowl format of some kind. Yahoo will determine this.

Semi-Final round of the playoffs:

Giants among men 73
The Cavement 66

big blue 52
PATS08 52

big blue vs. Giants among men for the championship next week.

big blue advanced with the tie based on the tiebreaker, which was the regular season standings. Also notable, Eli Manning scored a negative-1 for PATS08 which cost the game.

looks like a *giants* final

Sorry pats a tough way to lose, especially when its the Giants quarterback that did you in. Its nice to be in the championship game against another giants fan --good luck. I'm still offering to have a super bowl party for the league at my house in Piedmont, have 52" sony tv. Like to get an idea who is interested in attending. It would also give us a chance to discuss plans for next years league. Thanks Steve[ big blue ] :eclipsee_gold_cup: :beer3:

big blue is 2nd - stjade

The Cavemen appear to have 3rd, but PATS08 still has a chance with the Monday night game if Greg Jennings has a really big game.

I'm calling off the Super Bowl party at my house because of the following in no particular order
1.I'm depressed that the Giants lost to the Eagles:shrug::shrug:
2. John N can't come because of a family emergency
3. Only two others expressed interest
Thanks Steve

When John gets back down to the villages maybe we should get together to discuss next year???
