Some months ago Comcast scrambled the OTA Broadcast signals that were coming over their cable if you used them for internet.

Bought this antenna (http://www.amazon.com/Lava-Electronics-HD-2605-Antenna-Control/dp/B002MW0K22/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1443212417&sr=8-9&keywords=hd+tv+antenna+with) from a friend and installed it where my old satellite dish was mounted. Pretty easy, since I was able to use the cables from that installation. It has a remote control for pointing the antenna, so is very easy once it is on the roof.

I got it used for $20. It is available new at amazon for about $70. I get 59 digital channels when pointed towards Orlando. Unfortunately, I have a partial obstruction that blocks NBC. I could move it to a higher point on my roof, but it would be more trouble than it is worth.

It has a smaller footprint than the satellite dish it replace. Very happy with results.

We are just north of 466, wondering what village you are in. Wondering if it would work in de la Vista? Thanks in advance for your replies.

We are in Hemingway. I can't imagine a few more miles would make a big difference. I got 30+ channels pointing towards Tampa. Line of sight is probably more important.

If anyone is interested in a professional antenna installation, give me a call. I've installed over 200 antennas in The Villages with very good success. If fact, we guarantee results. If the antenna doesn't perform, we'll take it down. We use high end products and get high end results.

Note: I DO NOT install antennas outdoors. I will only mount them in the attic. I live in The Villages and I don't want to see them, I'm sure your neighbors feel the same way.

We are extremely busy and it's often difficult to answer calls live during business hours. Please, leave a message and I will call you back.

Tom how good is the HD with a antenna. We are only down for 5 months a year. Hate to spend money on cable. I also looking forward to the new Apple TV coming in October. We have 3 TV now.

I have had an antenna mounted in my attic for more than a year pointed at Orlando. I have a booster on it and yes, I get over 60 channels but after I block all of the Spanish channels, I still get about 30 channels. All over the air channels are HD and actually better pictures than satellite or cable. You are limited as to what is available though. I would advise going to a neighbor's house who has an antenna to see for yourself. Oh, by the way, I bought my antenna and booster both at Walmart.

We get over 80 channels but lots we would never use. We added Roku and have Comcast for Internet only and are much better off than cable and no monthly TV bill. $29 for Comcast Internet. Perfect for snowbirds or anyone. Once in a while there is a game we can't get and wish it played at a rec center (don't like sports bars) but otherwise we are fine. Roku also has Sling in it but we haven't investigated using it yet.

We also got as a gift something called an MBox from Canada. We get free movies n it, no monthly fees and some of them are still showing in Theatre. The getting to the channels isn't the greatest and often you have to check a few streams to get a movies Comcast doesn't buffer. Apparently it is called something different here but available with even more programming. If anyone else knows the name we would appreciate knowing it and where to buy.

If possible can you give several examples of the channels that you get with the antenna? We have had Satellite or Cable for so long we've forgotten what antenna TV offers. Thank You. Can you imagine not paying for TV, Phones, Water or Sewer Bills?

Thank you for the help joldnol & gap2415. I've been thinking about making the switch for years. The real decision is giving up our favorite sport teams. I need an assist in all technology related issues. Again Thank You.

I have a antenna, a lava, not the Lava Omni directional, which I had earlier. I get about 40 channels out of Orlando and area. I have some large trees in my area otherwise I think we would receive more. I am 1 mile South of the Villages on Griffin Ave. We are pleased with it. Basicially, we watch the 4 main networks and also about 4 or 5 movie channels, like ME, THIS, WE, some of these channels have some great old movies and series. I bought at North Flea Market in Fruitland Park from Steve's Antennas, he also installed it, and if I remember right, everthing was under $200.00. I still have his card, his number is 352 299 1870.

I've been trying to call and leaving messages, but no response. Is there a problem?

We went to antenna ~ other neighbors nearby have zero problems, we have problems every night. The channels freeze up, then there is no signal. It happened so much tonight that my husband was actually able to see it for himself. The antenna normally starts messing up every night around 9:30p but it was all night tonight! Personally, it's not worth the $$$ saved. It just adds frustration. I love sports, I got Roku, I have Sling however every game I've watched on ESPN and TNT had the same problem as on antenna. It's HORRIBLE ~ and a waste of money! I don't recommend it at all

We have very reliable reception from our antenna. Occasionally we will lose NBC for a little bit of time but we were warned that NBC can be a bit problematic. It doesn't happen often enough to be of any consequence.

Who put up your antenna and what antenna do you have? Tom at VillagesAV.com installed ours in the attic and he uses a pretty good sized antenna, which is needed for enough gain given the distance to Orlando. He is highly recommended.

If you are having problems with Sling over Roku then you may have a broadband issue. We have a couple of Roku boxes and they work flawlessly.

Switched three years ago when comcast told us we could leave them if we did not like their service. Left, put in the flat antenna and do not regret it. We also read more now and do not have the tv on as all day long. More selective with our network shows also.
