Despite very good acting for the most part, I would avoid this DVD. It is about a down-on his-luck ex-con and divorced father and his fight to keep his two little girls in his life. It takes place around 1958 in Southern Illinois but was filmed in South and North Carolina.

I had a lot of trouble watching the dog fighting scenes which are a good part of the plot.

Just out of curiosity what persuaded you to rent this in the first place? The Blockbuster write-up alone would be enough to keep me from renting it.

Not that I don't rent a lot of DVDs that sounded good and then get ejected in the first 30 minutes.

Hmm. So it's not a take-off of Major Payne? LOL
Major Payne is a classic in our family.

Just something new at the Blockbuster store as a new arrival that I had not seen yet. Had never heard of it before I rented it from Blockbuster as one of my Total Access exchanges.

I don't do the Blockbuster Exchanges but I should have. Nothing on TV at all tonight. US Open Tennis - ugh!! Which is why I am reading all of these posts.

What do you think of the new Blockbuster Online screens?
