Alright you guys. It's not fair to post a bunch of great pictures that makes the rest of us green with envy without explaining what a "Wedding Pity Party" is. (Guenther, you look particularly fetching) (Nonie, I love that hair style) (Hyacinth and Sidney, I finally have figured out what you look like, inaother words who you are.) Is Dicky the best man or the groom? Who's the bride? Whose on first?

P.S. I love the picture of the Lake Sumter Lighthouse and with your permission I will steal it to paint. Much better than the one I just tried to copy.

Great pictures you all! I'm with Gracie wondering what the Wedding Pity Party was. Being so busy with the start of a new school year, I think I missed a post somewhere... :'( :'( :'(

I have set up a TOTV calendar so I won't forget such important dates!!! Here is hoping vows were exchanged, and kisses were plenty. The fun was evident!!! I was boot scootin when I could have been MARRIED??!!!! GGRRRRRRRRRRR

We all got married to whomever. Yes we had a great time and a lot of laughs, hugs and a bubbly good time as you can see from the pictures.

Not one bad wedding photo in the batch. Gunther looked just fabbbbbbbbbbbbb.

The people down the street tried to have a "Wife Swapping Event". There was a sign in the front yard announcing it. But then it was cancelled "due to the lack of a qualified judge". Those people are still my friends and own in TV. Are you reading this F and N???

I think this is a similar event. It wasn't as "controversial" as it sounded, just :edit: clever.

Hyacinth Bucket

GG - is that politically correct? Shouldn't it have been wife/husband/significant other/partner/ singles swapping party.

Now that sounds like fun - and if you have everyone wear masks and mmmmmmmmmmmmm an idea for a party is coming to me.

Of course it would be done in the best of taste. Yes F and N would be invited.

Gee, Amir, I see you just joined today. Welcome..I guess. Your first post is certainly less than nice. If the few people bother you so much, why do you bother to read the posts?
Furthermore, it is a small percentage that do post on a regular basis and those posts give you something to read. You may not like what you read, but there's where free choice comes in to play. I don't agree with many of the viewpoints posted on TOTV but they sure do make for interesting reading and some can be quite thought provoking. This is a very social board. I check in numerous times per day to see the latest posts. It's fun. Did something about this particular thread set you off? Is it because you weren't invited? Start posting and get to know people and you'll be invited also. "Hundreds" of you are sick of seeing and hearing the same people??? Did you hundreds get together and vote on that?
I don't do things that make me sick. Why would you? I ask this in all respect and curiousity.

Wait!! Maybe I have it. Your handle is Amir. Some of the pics showed men in Arabic headdress. Could this have offended you? If so, I know these men and under no circumstances would they purposely try to offend anyone. I notice in your signature you put "US citizen by birth". I am curious why you would phrase it that way . I doubt anyone on this board would question your citizenship.

I don't usually pay attention to the posts on this thread, but I did pick up on Amir's comment. I would assume that the pictures in Arabic headdress hit a nerve. It is obvious that Amir has also read some other posts that probably weren't politically correct or sensitive of the background of Americans that are not caucasian (less than 50% of Americans now are). We all could do better when it comes to this area (not really bigotry, but sometimes ignorance).

Amir,
No disrespect intended, but who are the hundreds that lurk, and have no input on this board? Yes! I am one who posts often, as you can tell by my number of posts, but I enjoy the people, sometimes the controversy, and most of all the camaraderie..

Please don't feel left out, we welcome all the members and guests to feel free to voice their opinion..Unfortunately, yours is totally nasty and uncalled for, but we accept it any way! I believe we do show respect for all the people on this board, and we have formed some very good friendships away from the board..

Maybe you should consider giving the others a chance, instead of being negative and rude..Gee that's funny, you accused the others of being rude, guess it wore off on you!

I have a feeling that this whole thing with a white robe and middle eastern headdress occured simply because someone brought home some garb from a trip somewhere. I have a pair of dutch shoes. If I had been there and worn them with my "wedding dress" would someone named Hans jump all over me? Just wondering.

Political Correctness run amuck.

I can't ever remember if I've heard ANY American of Irish heritage get upset over Notre Dame's "Fightin' Irish" slogan. But, I HAVE heard some of them get really p.o.'d over their team's performance the last few years!

Amir, welcome to TOTV. You must have been lurking for a while to join today and make that nasty comment. We love it here and love the people. I can't imagine why you choose this particular post to vent your venom, but it's completely uncalled for, even with the Arabic dress.

LIGHTEN UP! Geesh. This was a party given for a couple that was feeling a little down and was done with the kindest of intentions. Yes, my husband and I did attend. I actually applaud the man that wore the robe and head gear because he was doing a very kind and loving thing. If you are of Arabic decent, I should tell you that not one, NOT ONE, negative comment or joke was made over this outfit. This gentlemen got this outfit in Saudi Arabia and appeared to be quite proud of it. We all thank him.

Oh, by the way, I am one of the usual posters. Don't like it -- don't read it.

Hi Amir and welcome to TOTV!

I wasn't at the Pity Party, but I am a frequent poster so I'm probably one of the peeps that you're sick of hearing from. Perhaps this will help. We have serious threads: "What is a bond" or "Need to add a birdcage, any suggestions" or "Snakes in my garden, what to do". And then we have frivolous threads like "Girl Talk" and "Chatters Happy and Sad" and "Wedding Pity Party".

It is too bad when frequent posters hijack serious topics. It is annoying when posters use those topics for cross talk instead of sending private messages. And we've been warned by the Admins to keep our chatter to the frivolous topics. (By the way, bless the Admin' hearts for giving us this site).

So Amir, sorry you got off to a bad start on TOTV, and perhaps if you only read the serious threads, you can avoid a lot of the chatter which disturbs you and entertains us.

P.S. Oh, and Amir, I suggest you stay well away from Political. It is interesting and educational, but can get a bit controversial at times!

I find Amirs 1st post disheartening, to say the least. Why do you read this forum if you don't like it? Why did you join? Who is sick of us? HUNDREDS?? Oh well! No one makes you or anyone read this forum. No one meant to be offensive. I know these people. We are from all walks of life and we do respect our differences. I just want to bring to everyones attention that YOU CHOSE to put "US CITIZEN BY BIRTH" under your name. THAT BOTHERS ME. It sure doesn't sound like you are proud of your citizenship. Most americans would have said PROUD US CITIZEN!

I am personally offended by Amir's post and therefore am asking that the comments be substantiated by Amir.

#1 Exactly who are the hundreds of people who are sick of hearing from the same people?
#2 Who are the same people?
#3 What makes these hundreds of people "sick"?
#4 Where have you ascertained the "hundreds" of people?
#5 Who do you accuse of being rude and why do you accuse them of rudeness?
#6 Who do you accuse of being nasty and why do you accuse them of being nasty?
#7 What is your definition of "showing respect"?

Inquiring minds want to know because I think you have voiced YOUR opinion and have no data to back up your accusations.

It would have been better had you stated your opinions and why instead of joining this forum negatively knowing how it would be received.

I honestly believe you want to be part of this group or you wouldn't have lurked for so long. Unfortunately, you went about introducing yourself in a fit of anger disregarding other's feelings, being disrespectful and rude...of which you accuse the regulars of doing.

Shame on you!

Hyacinth Bucket

Amir, I read your posting.

I do not know if you are a troll just looking to get attention or stir up the pot so to speak.

I do not know as some have suggested that you might be upset when you saw the dress of one person at the party. If the latter is what bothered you I will personally tell you the gentlemen who wore the galabia and an Arabian mans scarf - a Ghutra wore these items with respect.

Originally we were all going to wear Toga's and for a variety of reasons it did not work. The gentleman that you saw wearing Arab attire was the only who followed through with our original plan.

I have read what others have written to you - and agree with all of them.

Personally I do not feel it is my business to know what country a person is born in, their lineage, accomplishments, etc. nor do I care. I do not feel these factors makes them a better person

What is important to me is the person and how he or she treats others.

You quote how many people are members of TOTV - no one has ever stopped them, to my knowledge from posting, and I believe after their 10th post they can start a new topic.

Perhaps after your 10th posting you can start a new thread and bring up this topic. We will all learn why others are not posting.

I am so very confused....was there a wedding? Was it open to the public (TOTV public)....if it was I am sorry I missed it! Perhaps even I could have gotten married... 1rnfl

Oh wait...we are in FL....nevermind....

Anyway if it was just a party for a small group of people...good for you....I had one last night and we had the best time....but I forgot to take pictures...next time I will remember and share with you....

Except there might be some pictures that would offend someone else....not sure what they would be of...but seems something ALWAYS offends someone!! :(

Let's relax...we are in TV's or want to be and we are allowed to have a good time. No one ever means to hurt another...it is hard to live life with out bothering or offending someone else....especially not this group! ;D

OK...all joking and kidding aside...I MUST get serious here...

We can make light of certain cultures/heritages/symbols...but we must remember that most do not involve religious beliefs.

I honestly don't want to offend Amir or make light of his comments.

The Arab/Muslim culture/customs/religion I don't fully understand but I do show respect and tolerance.

Since 9/11 many Arabs have been falsely accused and ridiculed with no just cause.
Their beliefs may be different from my own but they are to be respected.
Their religion may be different from my own but should be respected.
Their culture may be different from my own but should be honored.
Their customs may be different from own but should be recognized.

We all need to be humble. We need not judge others nor be disrespectful.

That is the American way. We are a country of diversity, equality, and freedom of religion. Let's respect all.

With all due respect to Guenther...I know that he did not wear the head covering as a show of disrespect. He and his wife (Villages07) are very honorable people. For those of you who don't know 07, I ask you to read her previous posts. She is level headed, fair, just, honest, and a lady we can all depend on for factual information without bias.
