We are moving to Hemmingway soon, are there any people living there that can tell me if this is a social friendly neighborhood? All I hear is Hadley........

Both Hadley and Hemingway are newly built. It seems to me that the people drawn to The Villages lifestyle didn't also think once about being a hermit. They mostly seem to be people who like people and being in a new village makes people draw together in a new social group. There are NO bad choices in TV.

It seems you haven't been down here. Be prepared to be totally blown away. Just this time last year I was a person who lived in Cincinnati, Ohio and was perfectly content.

Now I am a glassy eyed Village person.

Come on down. :welcome: :welcome:

Hadley is nearly complete while Hemingway is still in the building phase, thus you will hear more Hadley comments for another couple of months. All of TV is friendly and very social. Residents play cards and then go eat, play golf and then go eat, play bingo and then go eat, attend music events and then go eat, go to a block party to talk and eat, expect to gain about 30 pounds your first year !!!!! We just built in Hemingway after a couple of years in Duval and have relatives in Hadley. All villages are friendly. Welcome to TV.

We close (by mail) on our new home in Hemmingway on the 17th. We went down last weekend to see it. All of the homes on our side of the street (Barker Way) are completed. We did meet one of the neighbors a few doors down very nice guy. I thnk it will be a great social area with the new Havana Country Club being completed it will be the "in" place to go for the next couple of years. We will be back down Sept. 23rd thru the 28th. And we plan on spending the week of Christmas there also.

We've only seen our new Hemingway house once for a few days when we closed and most of the neighbors hadn't moved in yet, but we did meet our next-door neighbors and they are the most wonderful people. They had us over for dinner and we went to church with them on Sunday. We keep in contact by email. I know we'll become great friends. Since then, our neighbors have met some other neighbors they like a lot. Hemingway will be a good neighborhood, too. Very close to shopping and the Morse rec trail makes it easy to get everywhere by golf cart.

We were at our house in Hemmingway back in May when we closed. At that time there were only a couple completed homes, so no neighbors. We will be back down the second week of October for a week, can't wait. Like Under55 we hope to also be there Christmas week.

We were just there also and it is really a nice area. Just takes time to get filled in with people but I'm sure it won't be long before it is bustling with activity. We're back in Minnesota now and just counting the days until we are there next summer on a full time basis. It is such a nice area, like everywhere, and close to so many things. We rented a golf cart for the week (or as my wife called it our convertible) and it was so nice to be able to jump in the cart and scoot most anywhere in just a few minutes.

Hi CJ,

We just closed on our villa in Hemingway on 7/30. We spent almost a month there getting settled in. We're back up north now for another week and then we'll be back. I've noticed that the best place and time to meet new people is Sunday afternoons at the Hemingway pool. It does seem like a lot of new construction right now but I know I'll be amazed when we return after a three week absence to see how much has now been completed. Hopefully we'll have lots more neighbors moved in when we return.

I just moved into Hemingway, Nash Loop, 2 weeks ago. There are not many people living here yet, but the Colony Villas areas seem to have quite a few people just moving in. They are ALL very friendly and have started walking "the Loop" together in the mornings. I think this will be a great place soon!

We just moved into the Seneca Villas in Hemingway. We've met some great neighbors, and met new, friendly people at the Hemingway pool, each time we've been there (almost daily). The pool was really hoppin this afternoon! I think Hemingway will be a great neighborhood, too.

Another nice thing about Hemingway is the location: 1) easy access to route 466a, 2) not too complicated a road pattern once you're here (easy to give people directions to your house), and 3) near Publix, Walgreens, Colony Rec Cen, etc.

Not since early May 2008 has the web page been updated in the Sumter County Appraisers Office. Let's hope they get to it soon, so we can see our property values and Hemingway, Hadley, Bonita, and Amelia Etc. area information. It might help if we all called Ronnie Hawkins in that office at 352-793-0210 and find out when they might get to updating the web page .

The Sumter County Appraiser has a new web page with newer info on Hemmingway and other Sumter County properties. You can find info, maps, values, Etc. at < www.sumterpa.com > It was put up October 1, 2008 and has info as new as July. It is a work in progress and being updated.

We just moved to Hemingway (Aberdeen Run) last week. The neighbors we have met so far are very friendly and nice. I think you will find that everyone in TV is friendly. As other posters said, Hemingway is new so many areas are not built up yet. We love it here!!!

Aceskaters...
I agree with all you said except about the "easy" directions, at least to our house. "From Sumter's Landing, go down Morse, pass the first Odell Circle and turn right on the second Odell Circle. Then turn right on the first Chapman Loop and turn left on the second Chapman Loop." Yes, there is such a thing as the corner of "Chapman Loop and Chapman Loop". It just works out that way, but it could be pretty funny giving directions. :)

I think there are a lot of the Loops that have a "double corner."

Yes - my directions are go right on Inner Circle and turn right on Inner Circle.

Thanks everyone for participating. I have been so busy getting our home on the market I completely forgot I started this. House is listed, lots of people coming thru and prayerfully, we will be able to make tv our home.
When we bought our home, we saw the Truman center...it is walking distance to us. Are there any neighbors on Alcove Loop out there? How is the building going? Wish we could web cam the site.
We just can't wait til we are there!

Bob, We live in Amelia, not too far from you. Your web page is great. I'm sure you'll get many people posting and looking at it for your activities. Good luck.:coolsmiley:

I watch a home in Margeaux Villas in Hemingway. When I checked the house yesterday, there was a flyer in the door stating there would be a neighborhood bbq on the 17th. I'd say this is a good indication that you've picked a pretty friendly area. Another plus is that people are always waving hi to me as I drive by.
