On Saturday, Barnes and Noble sponsored a book signing promotion for Ann Coulter. By now, most have heard about her Tweet after the last Republican debate wherein she referred to the Jewish people in America as "f***ing Jews". While I have never agreed with her politics, I recognize her right to hold her opinions, no matter how wrong she is. Her characterization of Jews in America in the fashion she chose is despicable.
Barnes and Noble was asked to rescind her book signing event. They declined. Saturday afternoon, approximately 250 people came out to protest Ms. Coulter's appearance and her brand of hatred. The protesters were peaceful, waving American and Israeli flags, singing Hebrew songs, as well as God Bless America and the Star Spangled Banner. In addition to being attended by Jews living in TV, there was a contingency from the United Church of Christ of TV, including a speech by Pastor Drew (sorry, I did not get your last name).
There were people from the press (print media and television) there interviewing the protest. I have yet to see anything in the Daily Sun reporting the event. I really have to wonder why this event was omitted. Is it because Ms. Coulter has a column in the Daily Sun from time to time? I makes my stomach turn every time I hear "fair and balanced" on WVLG's news reports. FoxNews reporting is anything but fair or balanced, but that is another issue.

Every newspaper has it's angle and it's advertisers. None of them are particularly fair and balanced, in my view. It sounds like either one or both of your suppositions could be the case.

Is this a surprise? The Daily Sun has always been the "good Villages newspaper". It is what it is. I still enjoy and read it almost everyday on-line or in person while in TV. For "other" news there are alternatives.
Don't you think fox uses "fair and balanced" to humble and "tick off" those that disagree with them? The right and left could both use some moderation IMHO.

1] not too much
2] not to humble and yes to tick off---it works too
Don't they have the largest following?

Fox news is as fair and balanced and fact finding as it comes these days. Most of the mainstream media on the other hand functions chiefly as a left wing propaganda machine.

I don't read Coulter. Frankly I was shocked by her bad language and attitude. She may have other good qualities but she needs to hire someone to keep her in line.
On the other issues. The Villages leans way to the right and I am a person right of center but not as far as most folks. People should realize that thinking of moving here. It is a mostly Conservative area. But no one I know talks politics...or religion or talks about how much money they have. It is a very nice place.

According to cable ratings Fox was 1 and MSNBC 2. I read one source that said NPR was most trusted. Another said CNN. One survey said NPR listeners were most informed and Fox the worst. Can you trust these ratings and surveys? That might be the real question!

 Are you blind? I read the article (with pic) in the Sunday Paper.
I'm thinking your hatred :rant-rave: is clouding what you see and don't see.
Did you read Ms. Coulter's quote or did somebody tell you about it. It was not a "characterization of Jews in America." but more like me saying
" Do these Liberals have any f***ing brains."
Does not mean I'm "Anti-Brain." I'm Pro-Brain, just like she is Pro-Israeli . Ask the people that lead you where to find the story in the "Sun"

There were a few pictures and a few sentences on page A9 in the Sunday edition of the Villages Daily Sun. They mentioned the protesters as well as Ann Coulter's signings.
This is like those shock jocks on the radio. If you do not like what they have to say; don't listen, tune in, or read them.
I also agree that Ann Coulter has been misquoted by people who disagree strongly with her various stances over the years. She was saying something like "I do not like these mf snakes on this mf plane". It has the same effect on the listener as what you posted but there are subtle differences.

Trust them? Of course one can trust them...as long as they trust the polling organizations, the survey method[s], the survey population, the wording of the survey questions and the analysts who interpret the responses that are obtained.

So true. Anyone who says that any news channel is more balanced than Fox news shows just how left thinking they are. There is a reason why more and more people watch Fox news.

I think you misunderstand the author's use of the F word. She was using it as a numeric modifier, not as derogatory term towards jews. Younger people use the F word like we older people use the word "dang", or Jersey people use "friggin". A young person may say "I'm so F ing tired", or "are you F ing me", or "that is really F ed up". It is just a generational thing.

I offset your boycott by purchasing a member's card yesterday. Had nothing to do with anything other than not being able to use my Books A Million card here.

Love that book. I was in Barnes and Noble after Ann Coulter spoke as I do not like crowds all that much. It seemed rather quiet after whatever storm took place there.
I get coupons to use at various places-- including Barnes and Noble if I chose it-- when donating blood at the Villages OneBlood donation center. So, I was checking out the new books, DVDs, and CDs. https://www.oneblood.org/rewards/
Ann Coulter is a writer/pundit/entertainer I read once in a while but from books of hers at local libraries. She is not a writer whose volumes I would return to often nor share with other family members. To each his own though.
I just hope no one takes offense from Lee Child's Jack Reacher books. I do get those at Barnes & Noble. More my kind of entertainment.

Here's the problem, f---ing Jew has historically been a derogatory reference with no qualifiers. Just a blatant condemnation statement. Ann Couter's tweet resonated that sentiment, because it stood by itself. Subsequent tweets attempted to clarify but the damage was done.

Thanks for the daily dose of hilarity! :a20: When you come back down to earth, you may want to check out a different news source. Pundifact found Fox to be truthful only 18% of the time, compared with 60% for CNN and 31% for MSNBC. But I'm sure you will dismiss these facts as liberal media lies, because if its not okayed by Fox then it is left wing propaganda. Me thinks the right wing media does a pretty good job of manipulating their sheep.
