If anyone wants to know what's wrong with the Villages (or any where in Florida) in May or Sept. it would be the Lovebugs.

Fumar, especially when scraped off the windshield, helps to tenderize 'em

I haven't seen one of the little buggers yet. I won't miss them if I don't see them, either. (I can dream, right?)

I prefer them seasoned with sea salt and then sun dried. Serve only as an appetizer to a good buffalo steak (available locally, they have been dry aged for abut 3 months now).

Hey Russ, wasn't it you who once suggested the buffalo were a dead topic? ;D

I think that's the only way to get the steaks.

Maybe I shouldn't stir the waters. The hoof prints are barely dry.

You all are very bad...gross too!!

Yes the love bugs are here...but they are not too bad.....better than some of the other bugs we have seen!

Just being boys I guess :joke:

Not much more to say about lovebugs than we've already said.

Were are coming down on 9/27 for 8 days, do you think they will be pretty well gone by then?

RUSSSSS~~~

I figured I better come back onto this thread as I started getting in trouble in the Political forum again!

Anyway....yes the love bugs will probably be here....just ignore them....clean off your car and golf cart...then keep it in the garage....if you see any....just look up at the beautiful blue sky and bright sunshine!! After all no matter what day it is.....it is a beautiful day here in TV's!!

as for the buffalo....God Bless them too!

I am not sure I should ask this, but why are they called "love bugs"?

They live to mate. Period. No food. Just get together. The good thing is when you kill one, you're really killing two (most of the time, anyway).

Red's got it close! I was going to say that they copulate almost from birth, and don't de-copulate! ;D

Plecia nearctica can be found in Wikipedia under "Lovebug."

What is the latest on the love bugs this year. I heard they are not bad. Is it a mild season or are they yet to come.
