What a nice time last Wednesday !
Honest John's had a whiskey tasting with a 5 course meal.
Each course had a delicious handcrafted cocktail such as an espresso martini with vanilla cream, Brown Derby and 2 others.
A gentleman from Woodford Whiskey told the whole history of whiskey. Very interesting.
The food presentations were beautiful.
1st. - Chicken liver pate with grilled crostinis
2nd. - Grilled thick toast with a soft egg and honey pork belly (so good)
3rd. - Cucumber granita & a small cucumber drink (palette cleanser)
4th. - Shortrib with pureed potatoes & shaved brussel sprouts
5th. - Hazelnut mousse with fresh raspberries

This event was sold out. The cost was $45.00 a person plus gratuity.
They are looking at doing some other events like this. I would highly recommend these events !!

That must have been a real treat for all that attended. Excellent choices across the board and presentation to match. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Sounds great! I hope they do it again when I'm down there. Also sounds like a designated driver may be in order.

Yes, because afterwards several of us ordered a straight up whiskey to enjoy outside after the event. LOL

Our son loves Honest John's so we eat there whenever he visits. My wife and I think it is okey but the location is very convenient. Each of us has always found something on the menu that we were able to enjoy whenever we visited.

What's not to like about a place that offers good whiskey.

When I was a kid (Freshmen year high school) my friends double dared me to drink straight down a combination of whiskeys they blended in an oversize beer mug. At that age I was fearless. I took the dare promptly fell to the floor. when I awoke old Doc Richards was examining me and told my mother that nature had successfully performed what medical procedure would have necessary. My mother kept stupidity a secret from my Dad because ....... to this day the aroma from any type of alcohol white or brown is enough to get me sick..a glass of vino with a meal priceless

Awww....where's the fun in that?

I think most people would last longer sampling wine than whiskey.

I must salute those that can hold their liquor. I was never any good at it.

I think it fun to watch others.........Some get so wise and beautiful, it is just amazing.

I was 16 and my girlfriend's parents left us alone for the weekend... no bourbon for me ever again!

CFrance don't you sometimes wonder how you ever made it out of those teen age years? In fact it seems that most people don't get workable brains until they reach 35

It's like the unleashed dogs in foreign countries... the ones that manage to not get flattened early on develop traffic smarts.
