Drivers turn on your lights! It was almost raining sideways and all these stupid people were driving without lights - including at least one Sumter Sheriff's SUV. There is enough stupid around here to float a boat!

They forget that those daytime lights are on only on the front and no back lights. We were told wipers on lights on.

But there was side striping to help visibility (I could not resist).

I was driving home on the turnpike the other day. It was raining so hard! I was amazed at the people going 60 MPH with their HAZARD lights flashing!

#1 it's illegal to have your hazard lights on in the rain.
#2 it's unsafe to go fast with your hazard lights on.

It appears that many people do not realize that you are required to turn on your headlights if your wipers are on. This is so YOU CAN BE SEEN. I cannot count the number of times people with silver or grey cars have no lights on during rain, and CANNOT BE SEEN BY OTHER TRAFFIC. I have even tried flashing my lights, generally to no avail.
As stated above, you cannot fix stupid, I just hope that I can get out of their way.......

It's a tough call. They make the tires safer in the water and the snow to protect people and what do some people do?

They go faster. And still get killed in accidents. Maybe it's even more dangerous with better tires because they go faster. hmmmmmmm

Some cars have the option that when you turn on your wipers your lights also come on. Other cars have the automatic lights that come on when it gets dark----which "sometimes" comes on in a hard rain. Nice options to have on a car.

No kidding - and that includes golf carts! If ever I wanted to make sure people see me coming, it's in a puny little golf cart. People jump out in the rain to drop those curtains, then you can barely see to drive; the least you need to do is turn on your lights and make sure people see YOU.

We have the chevy hhr and the lights are on auto. No need to worry about it.

My lights are on in my GC 24 hours a day. I can't tell you how many people have stopped me to tell me my lights are on. My answer is always the same you saw me didn't you. Don't understand people especially in their cars.

I don't have a cart but rented one for a while. When it's raining like hell, don't most carts pull over and wait it out?

I guess some folks do wait it out; I don't. Driving in ANY inclement weather, which definitely includes rain and fog, requires lights of ALL motorized vehicles. I'm drive my cart a lot, and in the mornings, when the golfers are ready for that first tee, they drive like crazy in the fog with NO LIGHTS. Wake up, people! No one can see you in the fog!

This is part of the problem. It is not dark enough in the rain, to turn on your headlights & taillights. So you just have the daytime running lights on in the front, and nothing on in the rear.

I would think that the majority of people with automatic headlights make this mistake. I look at the center info display. If it is not dimmed for night running, then my headlights are not on.

Now you know how much the drivers are paying attention, when their dash lights are NOT on and they cannot possibly see the gauges..........I rest my case.

Yep that automatic "on" is a God sent. My car is now 5 years old and I didn't know it was an option until my daughter visited last week and set it.

I went to the garage to put something in my car the following morning and the lights came on when I opened the door. I thought someone left the highlights on all night.... but how you can't remove the keys from the ignition without a warning that you have left your headlights on. I am such a sophisticate:D
