I replied to a thread about moving and cannot find it again as I need an answer. I forgot the proper way to plant St. Joseph and am going to get him employed on selling our home now. Can anyone enlighten me???? Thanks so much!

I was told: buried upside down and facing the property. Perhaps others were told otherwise. Whatever! But, when your property does sell (and you have to have faith that it will) you must retrieve the statue of the good saint and keep him in a spot of honor in your new home.

I purchased a St. Joseph statue over 30 years ago for my best friend. She sold her house quickly and kept the statue and lent him to all 4 of her children as the years went by. He was sent to me when we were going to move and he helped us sell our home up north in a week. He now resides back with my friends to be lent out again in the family as needed.

We just dug a hole and pitched it in and covered it over. Maybe had we done it correctly it wouldn't have taken us six months to sell the house. Oops.... it is still there, too. :redface:

I bought and planted my ST. Joe two weeks ago and the instructions said upside down with feet pointing to heaven. Close to the forsale sign and facing the street. Dig him up after the house has sold and give him a place of honor in your new home. There is also a prayer to say after you bury him.

"St. Joseph , guardian of household needs, we bury you now to help us in the sale of our property. Please bring us an acceptale offer. When escrow closes, we will dig you up and display you in a place of honor in our new home."

Almost 20 years ago, my husband & I made the predictable mistake of buying a home before selling our existing home. With the thought of 2 house payments, I found my St. Joseph statue and buried him face down in my back yard and we sold our house in 2 weeks. Following our instruction of digging him out before we moved, I couldn't believe it, we buried St. Anthony. (Now really, who has a statue of St. Anthony!) But we honestly believed it was St. Joseph and I learned one very valuable lesson. Don't ever purchase a house without selling your current one!!!
