Why the negative fear mongering?:police: It could be a new retention pond.

Probably what nature intended.

This mornings paper indicated that was due to a pipe break, so all the fears can be put aside, unless you have a large drainage pipe running under your house.

Just an observation:
The city of Auburn has 100 year old pipes laid with the material of the time and has had like 2 or 3 breaks in the last 30 years. Meanwhile, TV has pretty much brand new pipe made of modern materials, especially south of 466A where there have been a few recent breaks. What gives with this infrastructure?---did the contractor get his material from Crazy Ahmed's discount ISIS supply

That is it, the infrastructure. We are on shifting sands here.

AND I love Villagetinker too, Villager Joyce. Shoulda read the paper. Feel greatly relieved. Might have been the reason for the power outage too.

I played that course at 4:40 yesterday. I went to the other site and saw the photo. That's the par 3 over the tree from the gold. That's where it was yesterday.

Do you see that fabric looking thing across the water? Well last year after a lot of leaves had fallen, I thinned the shot and it went down there. I was walking to the ball and the fabric or baffle or whatever it is was covered with leaves. I stepped on it and it went down. As I was going down I pushed off hard with the other leg and got on solid ground and was safe. It's been a long time since I was that scared. I've seen an alligator in that pond.

I told an ambassador what happened and they roped it off and brushed off the leaves. You never know, do you?

[that might be the pond to the right of the seventh hole---i don't see the trees]

A "real" sinkhole can pop up anywhere in Florida-----but the chances of damage to your property (I read) are about the same as getting struck by lightning. Fore!

The difference is----and let me say that I am not worried about sink holes----if a reasonable person is in an area where you can get zapped, a reasonable person will seek shelter to minimize the risk.

I just viewed a picture of the sinkhole. It doesn’t appear to be very deep. If this occurred under your home, I don’t think it would cause a fatality.

That made me feel better. Central Florida is only the lightning capital of the world! I think more people are struck by lightning in Florida than anywhere else.

along with this: "Why the negative fear mongering? It could be a new retention pond."

One of the keys in interpersonal communication is the ability to filter what the brain thinks and what comes out when typing(speaking or writing)...you can predict...based on various lifestyle decisions which people have the ability to filter and not offend and those who will not filter because they have no clue(or don't care)what others think/feel...or think they're superior and conclude that people shaking their heads must be jealous of their lack of a moral compass...they see themselves as rebels and cowboys....a worth study for sociologists trying to determine why some people never mature....

Yes it is. And that specific one was covered extensively by the "Daily Sunshine" the day after it happened. I was quite shocked, because those type of stories are often found inside the local pages, not right out front.

The difference in this case is that it appears to have been caused by the leaking pipe, and did not just occur naturally.

But as the link you provided shows, they do happen here.

Hi Barefoot.

Perhaps the post is suggesting positive reinforcement which for the purposes of not depressing oneself is a good thing? I once read where a psychiatrist defined intelligence as never allowing yourself to be unhappy. It does make sense.

Perhaps the basis of the post is that people love to see a train wreck: ergo the rubberneckers we find on interstates that slow up to glance at a car accident.

Some folks are just more curious than others. Some folks when they see a duck its a duck nothing more nothing less. Some folks take their news good or bad head on

Personally I accept people for who they are. Who am I to judge and who am I to believe that my way is always the right way. I could be wrong, maybe:D

Personal Best Regards:

I have to confess that when I see a sinkhole headline in the online newspaper, first I feel really sorry for the home owners.
Then I quickly check to see if it's anywhere near our Village.
That's a selfish reaction, but I've heard that houses near a "sinkhole area" are unable to get sinkhole insurance.
If that is true, it would affect property values. None of us want that.

Wonder if this course remain unfixed as long as the seventh hole At Pelican.
