If Sweetbay's isn't open, there's always Wal-Mart. It's open 24/7 and does have food -- some of it even good quality.

Would be curious WHAT PRODUCTS AT WALMART ARE NOT GOOD QUALITY ?
I have shopped there and find all the same brands as at Publix or anywhere else. When you say "some of it even good quality" that is a real criticism as if most of it were junk.
Could you explain because I have been very pleased !

I have shopped for food at Walmart in TV but didn't look too much at the produce. We have occupied our home there for only 19 days total. I could be wrong and probably am wrong but our Super Walmart in West Chester, Ohio has kind of crummy past due produce and that whole section is kinda...dingy and not quite CLEAN looking and bright. I find that surprising since this neck of the woods is kinda spiffy. I didn't like the store in Leesburg as much as the one in TV, really different merchandise, especially accessories and housewares. Just my humble take on it.
I LOVE grocery shopping. Shhh don't tell. :)
By the way Welcome! :welcome: :welcome: :welcome:

I have had issues with Wal Mart meat..they ship the meat in containers filled with CO2 to keep the meat looking fresh with a deep red color. After some very bad steaks I stopped using Wal Mart for meat....

Which Walmart Gracie...the new one is great! Clean and spiffy...atleast what I have noticed....but I don't like grocery shopping...I buy all the junk! Perhaps I just don't know... ;)
However I agree with cologal and the issues of the steaks...YUK....but winndixie and publix can take care of that...

I didn't shop for produce at either Walmart in or near The Villages. The one near our home here in Ohio has not quite good produce sometimes.

Oh sorry Gracie..my misunderstanding! Actually both Walmarts here have pretty good produce....I know I don't like to shop but I have been in there....and am told by the shopper of the house that it is good! ;D

As has been mentioned, I'm not a fan of the produce or meat at Wal-Mart. Packaged goods are packaged goods -- just be sure and check expiration dates.
Bucco, you need to quit taking things so seriously. Like it or not, Wally World does not have a great reputation countrywide. I was beng facetious.

Cassie325,
I think it's almost hilarious when the original post takes on a life of it's own traveling in all kind of directions. But, ultimately, it always finds it's way back home. :a20: I just love it!
Everyone is so helpful and wants to add as much information as they think is helpful.

I guess you have a point, but at the same time I feel quite bad for the frustrated folks who ask a relatively simple, serious question and get to see a debate about Wal-Mart produce quality instead of an answer.

No need to apologize to me - I didn't ask the question and in fact am proliferating the hijacking in a way by even bringing it up!
I am not the traffic cop - just a sarcastic observer! ;D

Mr. Tony, Mr. Admin, Sir,
I do not think that you have been reading our graciegirl her rights before you do that cop thing that you do. We Ohio girls stick together. We are tough Midwest types. And we know about stuff. Vas you ever in Zinzinnati?

I heard a rumor this after noon regarding Sweetbay being unhappy with the acceptance and level of business in TV. So much so they were contemplating closure.
Anybody hear that?
I cannot believe a company like that could miss the mark on their expectations. Far too much study and planning went into the decision to come here in the first place.
I can imagine the new Walmart, Publix commitment to upgrading their stores and putting in one of the new Greenwise stores, and the coming soon Sam's Club and Fresh Market are certainly major competitive issues for them. But I would also expect they had some insight to what the future held for them in TV during their evaluation process.
I dismiss it as rumor, but months ago, on a slightly different scale I also thought the rumors
about Dominic's restaraunt closure were just that.
Just curious.

OH...sweetbay! Actually I went in there for the first time the other day....it seemed like a great place to me....although all the fun stuff (olive bar, wine, samples) was hidden in the back....someone should hire me to come fix it.....

I'm sure Sweetbay management is sorely disappointed. From the largest and best grand opening of any Sweetbay store to not enough busness to keep a mom and pop store alive from the looks of the parking lot. Don't know why, but it just doesn't seem to be getting business. It really is a shame because it is a good store and has great produce.
Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised to see it close this store, especially if Sweetbay is looking for a "hit list" of poor performers.

I really like Sweet Bay- beautiful store, nice staff, well stocked, etc., but I think it is pricey..
For me, it is so convenient; however, I rarely buy everything on my list at Sweet Bay when I know there are other stores with the same things for less. I've noticed many times, there are people like me checking out with just a few items because it is so convenient to the surrounding area and you don't have to go to 466 or 441.
Hopefully, the snowbirds' arrival will keep it busy and alive. I am looking forward to Fresh Market - I am certain that will have an impact on all of the local grocers.
