This afternoon at the retention pond just south of Palmer country club, a man was down near the waters edge throwing what ever he could find at a gator out in the pond.
Large man in red tee shirt, two sizes too small, and walking with a macho swagger. Seemed he thought it was funny as he laughed to those with him, who were still behind the fence.
He was gone when the Deputy arrived.

Ugh, just pure ignorance. Seems like something an elementary school bully would do. I can't imagine (or at least I hope) the people with him didn't find it funny and let him know they didn't find it amusing either.

More to the point, what happens to him when the ALLIGATOR doesn't find it amusing?

Kind of reminds me of when we went to Niagra Falls. We were right next to the falls, not much land at all between us and there was a fence. Some sightseers jumped over the fence and got as close to the falls as possible to take a picture. One slip of a rock and they would have been in it.

I was at a Naples, FL golf course many years ago. Known hazards were the gators and snakes. Our friends were showing us the course, and there was a gator sunning itself on the opposite side of the canal.....before I could lift the camera to get the picture, it was in the water. I could not believe how fast it moved. later found out in the first 30 - 40 yards (I think) you cannot out run a gator.
The guy was very lucky the gator did not attack!
Too bad the cops did not get there in time.

If he was intentionally trying to hurt the alligator:
Popular Title: Florida Endangered and Threatened Species Act .
Primary Citation: West's F. S. A. 379.2291 - 231 .
Country of Origin: United States .
Last Checked: September, 2015 .

Summary:
These Florida statutes define endangered and threatened species and provide the State's intent to protect these species. Under statute, the intentional killing or wounding of a listed species incurs a third degree felony. Interestingly, the state has a reward program for the arrest and conviction of those who violate state endangered species laws.

Idiots can't seem to leave them alone. Reminds me of a few months ago when some folks on TOTV went crazy because someone spotted a gator close to Brownwood; "It needs moved", "It might bite someone" - :blahblahblah::blahblahblah::blahblahblah:. Back in the early 2000's, my wife and I played Gray Plantation in Lake Charles, LA; there were BIG gators all over that course. People playing there knew to leave them alone. That's what the idiots need to do here - LEAVE THEM ALONE.

Yes, the guy is a moron.
But if attacked by the gator(s), he's not too moronic to get a putrid lawyer to sue the golf course, golf management company, and the developers for all they've got, and happily drive them out of business.
Morons have the best and most affordable legal representation there is. "It's somebody else's fault. Always."

I'm sure he could sue, but you can bet the developers have their own covey of lawyers that could bury this with years of legal wrangling.

That's what people thought when idiots put their little kids inside the fences with the buffalo.
The developers moved the buffalo out of sight, so innocent kids and big morons didn't get wounded due to their own stupidity.

Hi justjim: I agree but don't forget, not too long ago, the poor guy whose only act was to attempt to strike his ball where it lay next to the water when a gator jumped out and grabbed his arm.
As to this guy. Just think the alligator had to tolerate him for just a short time. Imagine the poor wife that has to live with him 24/7

One the guys who mows the grass along the retention pond I live on was tossing chunks of a bagel to an alligator. I told him to stop and pointed out that feeding an alligator is illegal and is potentially a death sentence for the alligator if he loses his fear of humans. He seemed surprised by this. I called my CDD and asked them to please educate their vendors.

I threw a rock at an alligator and it was so funny because he tried to throw it back and with those little arms he couldn't reach me. Next time I'll send of a Frisbee. I'll bet he could swing it back and let it go with his mouth. And it's not a bad idea to let the alligators know we're people too. And we know how to have a good time too.

A few years back I witnessed a man with New York license plates taking his two young daughters for a walk in a field to get close to a brown bear. They had food in their hand and hoped to feed the bear. When the Ranger finally arrived and forced the guy back to his car, he told those of us down by the road that there are fools that try to do this every year. Talk about being stupid. This guy took the cake. This didn't happen at some zoo in New York City. It was at Yellowstone in Wyoming

Must be related to the idiot who tried to feed the buffalo. When the buffalo bit, they sued the developer.
Hence, no more buffalo's. Seeing buffalo's was very cool.

I really wonder sometimes how people like him make it through the day. Maybe the developers need to have everyone that rents or buys in TV fill out a questionnaire with the 1st question being "Are you an idiot? If you answered yes, you can't live here". Of course, too many have made it in already.

If I remember correctly that's why they migrated from New York in the first place. They were going to settle in Philadelphia but you know how those people are. Philles are even more crazy. They were throwing sticks and stones. Always trying to be the peacemaker that's how Ben Franklin came up with one of his many sayings.
So the settlers kept going west thinking of a good name that will never hurt them.. And sure enough that got clean out to Pittsburgh and said to to the first person they ran into on the outskirts of town "Oh---Hi" and he threw a rock too and disappointed they all mumbled "Oh" and settled even more west.
Which I believe is how the state got named.
