What flooring do you have in your home? Are you happy with it?

Carpet in LR.....nice on bare feet but carpet is not made for Florida IMHO. It's new and if someone gave me half what it's worth, it would be gone. It came with the house. One way or another, it's going. I like tile or hardwood.

We had engineered hardwood in SC and really liked it. We opted to replace our carpet in TV with laminate. We like it equally as well. The entire house is laminate except for tile in the baths.

Tile is the way to go if you have any pets. If not and cost is not an issue then I would go with hardwood. I have two Maltese and have tile in the living areas and laminate in all of the bedrooms. Vacuuming carpet is not what I wanted to do being a retiree.

Tile except the two guest rooms...we kept the carpet there.

We just moved full time to TV after retiring from Shaw Industries.

We bought a new Begonia from inventory that had tile in kitchen, hall and baths and Mohawk builder beige carpet elsewhere. The developer has a relationship with Mohawk and Shaw has never been able to get into TV.

We replaced all of the carpet with Shaw Epic engineered hardwood (it did help that I got an employee discount at about 1/5 of the retail cost).

Shaw also makes laminate, but if you can afford the engineered hardwood it is vastly superior.

I have the engineered hardwood and love it. A friend of mine just got laminate and I found it was perfect in her house. They have come a long way with it and sometimes you have to look closely to see the difference. Not sure if one or the other is easier on your feet/legs but expect both are easier than tile but harder than carpet if that's an issue for you.

Most laminate is installed as a "floating floor" and is not attached to the subfloor to allow for expansion and contraction. Over time it can develop areas where it is noisy when walked over.

Engineered hardwood is glued to the subfloor and will not have sound issues.

We have tile except for the bedrooms. Love it except hard on our feet. Easy to take care of after we purchased a floor mate cleaner. I agree with the above comment regarding laminate flooring. We had it before and it makes popping/creaking sounds after awhile. Flooring is a difficult decision and none of it is perfect. Good luck!

High end laminate and love it. Easy to maintain and clean. Hate tile which is in bathrooms only. Cold on feet, hard on knees and hips as you age and who wants to clean grout.

I got the hardwood and love it but neighbors got the tile that looks like hardwood and and I sort of wish I had gotten that, but then again, the tile is harder on your feet and body.
NOTE: if you are here full time, then hardwood is ok, but if you are a snow bird or whatever, then no hardwood for you.
