Hi, everyone. We are considering property in either in Marion or Sumter county. Is there a major advantage to Sumter over Marion? The property we are looking at is in the Torri Pine Golf Course general area. Just by looking on the map it seems far away from the town squares and other shopping? Should we pay more and buy of 466. Thanks for any advice.

It really depends what you think you're going to be focused on.
If it's the 'squares', I feel anywhere along Morse Blvd from El Camino south to Odell Circle near Havana would keep you within 15 minutes of ONE of the squares.
If softball is your thing you might want to be along Buena Vista and not too far from 466.
As for shopping, Publix and the associated shopping centers are on all ends of TV's.
And golf and rec centers are everywhere in between.
As for the cost factors of living in Marion or Sumter, someone else will have to pick that up as I live in LAKE county.

We are currently house shopping for the inlaws. We are only looking from 466 south. You get spoiled fast here with the things you are interested in being within 5 to 10 minutes by golf cart. The villages is spreading to the south quickly.

I recall being told that the property taxes are a bit lower in Sumter County than in Marion. We are south of CR-466, fairly central in TV north to south though on the west side, close to the 466 shopping areas, the Lifetime Learning College, the Villages Library. and about 4 miles from LSL.

Not only is the Marion section of TV generally cheaper, especially with the lower or paid off bond costs, but it is quieter and less congested than the central areas near 466. We have a big corner lot villa on Ashley Meadows, in the northeast corner of TV. No neighbors, only the roofs of two houses are visible from any point in our yard. The mature landscaping is gorgeous. It's like heaven on earth. We are also 15 minutes from either town square, and we have a major rec center and all the essential shopping we need within walking distance. I really enjoy all the posts here about the adventures and excitement of the new folks moving to Hadley and other Sumter locales, but up here in Marion we just smile and enjoy the great life.

hello ijusluvit ... is it 15 minutes to either Square by automobile or by golf car. I am not a resident so this would be helpful to me to learn. Thanks.

Sidney has a wonderful location and I know, cuz we live a few blocks apart. Just south of Southern Trace Plaza on 466, Bonefish Grill, new Walmart is accessible by golf cart. If you have a dog, Doggie Doo Run Run is 5 minutes north of Southern Trace Plaza.

LSL is 12 minutes by golf cart, SS is 15 minutes. I love the central location! Villages are mature enough to look beautiful and have lots of queen palms. But not old enough to need new roofs, etc.

The squares are about 10 minutes by car, 20+ by golf cart from the northernmost residences. No one up here has any problem with that, even renters.

Hey benj - there's nothin wrong with you

If Sidney lives south of 466, how can SS be only 3 minutes further than LSL?

We actually both live very close to 466 (close to Southern Plaza at CR 101). I go north on Buena Vista to go to Spanish Springs, or south on Buena Vista to go to Sumter Landing. If you look at a map, I think you'll understand the routes better.

From 466 taking Buena Vista south to LSL looks like a 5 - 10 minute drive.

From 466 taking Buena Vista north to SS (via el camino) looks like a 20 - 25 minute drive
