Last year a PDQ opened near my home in Tampa. It was great food, although the interior of the building is extremely noisy due to poor architecture.

Alas, the quality of the food has diminished greatly. The physical size of the chicken strips is almost half as large as they were when they opened. We usually use drive-through to avoid eating in the noisy dining room. At least 80% of the time they get the order wrong. We have learned to check it closely before driving off.

Actually, we have quit going there.

I've eaten at two different ones and liked them both.

Guess they could also increase the price with the smaller portions. Wrong orders usually stop us from continuing to frequent a business.

I don't know if their food is good or bad, but I appreciate anyone making an investment in The Villages. I wish them success.

Another chain. How sad that chains are about the only types of restaurants that can afford to open in TV. Thank heavens for Athens in Spanish Springs!

It always impresses me that there can be two different perspectives on the same subject. Both are correct of course, because they are opinions, not fact. Aren't Forums wonderful! :024:

How could we exist while traveling without the chains. That's the whole idea of chain so you know what do you expect when you go out to eat. Mom-and-pop eateries are sort of like the corner grocery store they're a thing of the past.

That is right and why you see tourist dependent Florida full of chains!!

Chains is relative, right.

For example, J. Alexanders is a chain but way, way above average decor, service and quality of food....which ever one you frequent.

Our favorites are in Louisville, KY and Ft. Lauderdal, FL.

I really don't have a problem with the chain restaurants. I find that most of them are pretty good!

Remember Howard Johnson's? Food was never great but you knew what to expect on a road trip and knew that it would be clean.

Fresh Blueberry Coleslaw sounds like something new.

Do they taste like Chick-fil-A? or KFC?

When the Hoaward Johnsons moved into Secaucus, NJ I was 13. Remember those light blue gingham dresses with the little apron the waitresses wore?

It would be cool if Tim Tebow showed up for the opening of The Villages PDQ.

Maybe my reluctance to embrace chain restaurants where I live is because where I originally came from, the only chains were the regular fast-food burger joints, all of which we have here. Everything else was mom & pop, and this was in Queens, NY. Yes, when traveling, we always look for a Cracker Barrel - pretty consistent food and immaculate rest rooms; however, I'm not traveling through TV, I live here, and would really appreciate some good mom & pop places. Thank heavens we're willing to travel out of TV, where there are some really nice and decent places to eat that aren't chains. To each his own! Wherever you chose to eat, enjoy!
