We will be moving to Hadley Oct. 1st and are trying to decide whether to get a bundle package from Embark or Comcast. We have Direct TV now and really like it except it goes out with even a sprinkle of rain. Do you who have Dish TV through Embark have the same problem?
I would like to hear why you have decided to go with either one.
I've tried to search the packages online, but they are not showing any service in Hadley.
Thanks in advance and we will be there soon!!

I have a "Double PLay" digital bundle from Comcast and for 1 year it is only $66 per month or $69.89 incling all taxes ..This includes 8mg of cable internet, digital cable TV (it is the lowest level digital and does not include ALL channels) BUT I do get the music channels and also one free year of all HBO channels. I own my own modem and router so I am not paying rental fees for that! To get all channels it would have been $15 extra and HD an additional $5. I was not required to have or get a comcast telephone for I already had Basic (no long distance) telehone service from Embarq.

784, thanks for the info....GN
I have comcast triple play which includes telephone service with no extra charges for long distance. In the range of $99.00 peer month for a year. Great value when you consider free long distance. Also have the same service on my home up north.

Folks, after your first year is up - what is your Second Price?

Is it true that Embarq does not offer Internet service alone but only bundled with phone service? I'm interested in the 3MB Internet service but plan to just stick with cellular phone service. Their website mentions a $39.95 Internet service at 3MB and a bundle with basic voice for $58. But their sales line suggests that only the bundle is available.
Are there any other providers with an Internet access service in the $40 range?

We have the Embarq bundle. We have the Dish (which goes out everytime it rains) and our internet and telephone service through EMBARQ. It's $145.00 per month for the bundle. We had Comcast for the first 3 years we were here but it went up each year. We're savings about $40.00 per month.

IN a year I will worry about what services or bundles are provided at that time. Now granted what Comcast/Embarq are betting on is that when the year is up most people, will simply accept the increased price and not call back. My experience with Comcast has been if you call and discuss your situation they will offer you whatever promotion is available.

We have the Embarq bundle with Dish Network. My research indicated a $40/month savings in the first year of "free" DISH (not really free because the add-ons total about $20/month) and $10/month the second year compared to equivalent Comcast service. One thing I miss not having Comcast is The Villages cable network programming - but not a biggie.
It is an exaggeration to say DISH goes out every time it rains. Even during tropical storm Fay it stayed on for us in Amelia. During occasional thick cloud cover thunderstorms that last an hour or two, it will go out for 10 minutes here and there. Since July this occurred perhaps twice.
However, if you go with an Embarq package be very diligent in reviewing your monthly bills. I have noted two or three overcharges that, with a 10 minute phone call, were resolved.
Also, to avoid a $5 per month "programming fee" you should have your satellite receiver hooked up to a phone line. If you do not have one near where the receiver is located, it costs about $70 to have a phone line installed, or you can get a wireless phone jack at Radio Shack for $50 (or $15 less over the internet, e.g. Net Deals.)

Thank you all for your input! I think we might be going with comcast.
By the way I am the former Karen88.......couldn't get back with my old user name and had to re-register. Have also been offline due to Hurricane Ike......yes the Northern Kentucky/Greater Cincinnati area has had a 90% power outtage after the remnants of it blew through Sunday I thought I would be a TVer before we would experience hurricane force winds!!:22yikes:
