What are the pros and cons of different types of garage screens? For example, the pros and cons of getting a motorized screen (Cool Breeze) or getting the sliding door screens (Who?) besides probably the cost?

We are on our 4th home here in TV. Had a CYV with the sliders and HATED THEM. Past two homes we have used Thumper's Retractable Garage Screen Doors and love them.

They are not cheap, but look and hold up better than any rollup screen door (they flap in the winds too).

Call Thumper for an estimate. 352-342-7809

We had Cool Breeze install our motorized screen door. We were tired of hopping in and out of vehicle to open one side of the slider or the other. Lazy? Probably, but we appreciate it when it's pouring rain and can use the opener. I guess I never noticed whether they flap in the wind, but don't see why they would because they roll up most of the way.

We can also see out, but people cannot see in the garage.

We had quotes from Cool Breeze and Thumper. Thumper was more expensive, though both were expensive, we thought. The Cool Breeze screen was just fine with me, but my husband didn't like the exposed casing into which the screen rolls. We would have had to change location of a cabinet to use Thumper's screen. In the end, we have no screen but plenty of bugs.

We have the 4 panel slider screens and love them. This system was installed 13 yrs ago and if we had to replace them tomorrow we would stay with the same system. If we think it may rain we leave the panels open so we can just pull in the garage. Yes there are times its raining and we have to get out to open screens but oh well, its only water. Even when doing yard work and we happen to be in & out of garage we still just slide shut the screens to keep them critters out. Also don't have to worry about power outages and not being able to open. JMO

Something to think about. We have the motorized screen for the garage, not with Cool Breeze, and if you have an electrical outage and you need to get your vehicle, car or cart, in or out of the garage, you are SOL. In the 3 years we've been here have not had the electric go out for more than an hour at a time and was not an issue. We like the 1 piece screen as I like to sit in the garage and watch what is going on outside without the bars disrupting my view. Like I said....just something to think about and ask about if you are in the market for the motorized screen.

Cool Breeze roll screens offers a power inverter if you do have an power outage for a long period of time as a referral fee or for sale with the cool breeze motorized screens.

A power inverter has many uses to switch ac to dc current other than your
motorized roll screen, our motor only draw 3 amps.

We have the sliders and are very happy with them. We like them because we can go in and out by just opening either side enough to walk through. My wife is terrified of a lizard, snake or frog getting into the garage. If the door is completely open like a roll-up screen, she just can't patrol it all.

Thank you Cool Breeze. I'm very happy with the final result. The shades look nice and the color is a perfect match to my house. My cat is happy also, she can sit in front of the screen and look out and get some fresh air.

Previous home owner installed the 4-door sliders on our CYV and I've often considered the one-piece retractable one as a replacement when needed.

Well. it's that time - rollers are messed up, tracks are damaged, etc. - but I'm going to go with the slider unit again. I like to work in the yard and go in/out so often that I'd rather just slide one door than have to raise/lower the whole door each time.

Going with All-Around Aluminum since they did a great job on our lanai enclosure and golf cart garage addition. Have heard good things from friends re the other vendors mentioned though.

Yes, We use a L angle on our side tracks that will give when pressure is applied on the screen and will not blow out with a strong wind like some other motorized screens on the market.

We use a coil zipper retention system to aluminum extrusion side track not a fan pull chain bead system. NO nylon or plastic track.

We also offer a 10 year warranty.

We researched a lot of screens before we purchased and I would NEVER and I say NEVER have the sliders. My good friend has them and they are continually having to blow the tracks out because they are always getting filled with dirt and debris. She also uses teflon on the tracks to make them run more smoothly a pain in the drain. And you never have full access to the complete garage door appending any more unless you take the panels out.
We bought the screen, articulates the same way your garage door does from Greg Goolsby and love it. Very good construction and his service is great!! Lots of color choices and did I mention great service!!
