and this is no joke (although, I know some of you guys will turn into that).
No gas in the Villages at either of the gas stations on 466. Yup, you heard it right, better start using your golf cart!

Yes, I went out to get gas on my way to the post office and was more than a little surprised to find that neither station on CR-466 had gas. I asked at the Oxford P.O. where to go, and the clerk sent me to the CITGO station a couple of miles south on 301 (toward Wildwood) where I filled up with regular at $3.63/gallon with no problem. Strange....

I think they have gas, and they're holding it back, to sell it for Mondays prices!
What a rip.

The Shell was out when I went to get gas this morning. The other one had lines to the curb.
Went to Wildwood (I don't buy Chavez gas!). Interestingly the only station closed down for "out of service" was Shell (again).
No problem at the other stations except some were high like $3.85.

I guess if there is one thing I do not like about TV, it is the hair trigger too many residents have. I knew when I saw the words FL...gas...shortage...in the morning's happy paper there would be a rush...and there was...and the operators here play the game for us!!!!

Yesterday afternoon one of our teacher's father called to tell her that he was in a nearby town and the gas was priced at $6.10. The teacher became frantic and told everyone she could. Well, in a small town like the one I teach in word travels fast and when I left school an hour later, the 3 stations had cars 20 deep lined up waiting to fill up.

I had no choice but to fill my tank since I let my needle drop below 1/4. However, I decided to keep traveling the 25 miles home and waited until I found a station with only 3 cars lines up with a price of $3.91. I'm thankful I filled because today the prices are close to $4.20 a gallon! I didn't fill up because I feared the prices or shortages...I filled up because I had to.

The shortage of gas will be a result of PANIC!

I tried 3 stations on highway 27 - across from Lowes , out of gas. By the post office, one was out of gas and just as I was filling up, it ran out of gas too.

We're on our way back to TV. Drove from Indiana to north of Atlanta today. We saw gas prices today ranging from 3.799 to 4.599. Only saw one station out of gas - I believe it was in TN.

Is this a local situation? We seem to have plenty of gas up here in MA. The average price is around $3.39

There is plenty of gas here to. The running out is being caused by the panic buying over such a short period. One of the transportation adminiters from the fuel terminal said there is no shortage. They are dispatching tankers as usual but not as fast as stations are being run dry. And there are "stories" of those that have not run out but have bagged their pumps waiting to raise prices on Monday.....rumor!

BTK

PS also indicates we can cause an increase in inventory in a short time if we all don't buy gas over a period of time!!!!

Here in Ark the gas rose yesterday by more than 30 cents a gallon, no reason just price gouging. At least our attorney general is investigating it. There were no runs on the gas stations even though we might get hit with some of Ike's rain and possible flooding in areas already hit by the last storm. The manager of one of the stations said corporate called them yesterday morning and told them to raise the prices, no reason.

I got a call yesterday to get gas because it is running out. Someone punched the panic button. There is plenty of gas in our area. Fortunately , I got gas on Thursday and that will last for two weeks.

I had to get gas in the boat on my way to the lake this morning. 3.99 a gallon several places were either out or just bagged all pumps but premium, go figure, but did manage to catch several bass, and had a good lunch at a little hole in the wall diner that has great home cooked food. So it was a good day.

They raised the price of gas at the circle K on 466 by 24 cents in less than 12 hours. I thought that it was kind of strange since they didn't have low or middle octane gasoline. The finally went dry. I watched as folks put high octane gasoline in golf carts !!!!!The whole industry is one big rip off.

Is the price for real--is it really $2.73/gallon in Oswego--or is it a typo? If real, that's pretty amazing! (We've been manipulated into thinking that gas at a price like this is 'cheap'....)

"Ripoff" without a doubt. I am convinced that the whole market is cleverly manipulated by the oil companies in cahoots with OPEC (meaning mainly the Saudis), and we have to take responsibility for buying into whatever pushes the panic button.

"Chavez gas"? What's the problem with gas from Venezuela? Geez, I was bombarded with tons of mass circulating emails to buy only CITGO as it's one of the few supplies of gasoline that does NOT come from our 'friends' the Saudis who also gave us fifteen of the nineteen 9/11 terrorists and as one of the prime participants in OPEC are among the most responsible for manipulation of the oil market that has resulted in, among other things, the price we pay today.

It is true, though, about that hair-trigger response, but it's true everywhere in this country, not just among residents of TV; it's a mentality that we've been nurtured to live by. Up north, when snow flurries are predicted, the supermarkets are mobbed with people buying a six month supply of toilet paper. Same mentality....

I filled my car yesterday at the Shell station in Colony Plaza. Pricing was about standard, no gouging, but the pumps had been set to shut off at $50. I found that interesting.

I made a quick trip to Tampa today (9-14-08) and noticed the Shell station in Wildwood didn't have prices posted so they must have been out as well. Prices ranged between 4.14 and 3.79 up and down I-75

If you don't NEED gas, please hold off filling your tanks 'just in case'. Working folks NEED gas to get to their jobs, cut lawns, deliver goods. Here is the problem......... http://www.wkrg.com/hurricane/article/gas_shortage_in_florida/18026/

At least we're n ot in Houston. My sister is and she's been without electricity since Ike hit. Now they're trying to find gas for the their generator. Yesterday she and her husband drove for 45 miles to fin d gas. Only found 4 stations even open (take electricity to run the pumps) and the lines were so long at each that the police we directing traffic. Eventually they went home and siphoned gas out of one of their cars to run the generator.
