I have noticed while looking at FSBO homes that property taxes can vary considerably for the same type of home, similar square footage, similar construction. Is this primarily because of location in TV or is it because of other reasons? Thanks for your help on this matter.

I have noticed the same thing while looking at properties all over FL (my hobby) and believe it is due to the Homestead Act. The person selling the property might have bought enough years ago and has been Homesteaded so that their taxes have stayed relatively low and has been advertised on what they currently pay. The higher taxed properties are possibly more current purchases and the taxes are based on the newer purchase price, without the benefit of years of being Homesteaded.

I would like to hear if anyone has a different answer.

Is there a site where one can find out what the property taxes are by typing in the address?
Thanks,
Bob

Sumter County is where most of the new property offered for sale by TV is located. There is also a lot of resale property in Sumter. The following web site is a good place to start looking for history on property taxes. It takes a bit of digging and exploration, but, the answer to your question is there. It would help if you had an address or owner name of a particular property before you start your search. Go to: http://publicrecords.onlinesearches.com/FL_Sumter.htm
Good luck
