On another thread, jmemc46 was wondering how many other single wannabees were also waiting to sell their houses in order to be able to move to The Villages.

So, check-in and give us an update.

As for me, I removed my FSBO signs until next spring, expecting to enjoy my favorite season - the fall - and hope this coming winter will not be as severe as the last.

Me too. Waiting to sell here in CT. I did however buy a house in TV, but will probably end up renting one or the other over the winter months. :cold: My agent tells me that there are people out there looking to buy up here, but they're hesitating and just won't pull the plug.:(

Still trying to sell in Colorado. As far as I can see there isn't a buyer within 100 miles.
Another someday sale in tv.

YES, how observant of you to have noticed my plant :22yikes: Is that a reflection of your past ? (just kidding) ROTFLMAO

Actually, the photo was taken at my place of employment in - around 1982ish - when I was working in the narcotics squad (secretary) and it was a confiscated piece of evidence :D

I have been to the villages a couple of times now along with friends and family. Have the house style picked out and now I wait:(. Hope I can be there by Christmas. Can't wait to meet other singles.

I could probably post as SteveArmyRet, having done so 20 years ago! My God, it can't be that long!

A single (lost my wife to cancer slightly more than 8 years ago) and planning to remain so. I don't necessarily participate in singles events, activities, etc., (I worry that they're too likely to be matchmaking societies :D ), but am always glad to :welcome: others!

just responding to the second army retiree who says he does not attend single events...hope you will reconsider meeting some of us. we are harmless. most of us do not want to get married, either, but nice to have an occasional dance partner or a group of friends to go out with...our friend tkret was so impressed he bought a home on the spot this weekend! just ask him!

to all the wannabe's, keep the faith and sooner or later your home will sell...probably worth reducing the price to get on with your life here in paradise...i am just arrived in august and am very happy here already!

Chachacha, I couldn't have said it better if I tried. It IS nice to have a dance partner, someone to enjoy a lunch or dinner with, take in a movie, bowl a game, etc. Doing these things with another is NOT a recipe for a walk down the aisle, but is a great way to spend an afternoon or evening with a very good friend. Our lives are enriched when we spend time with a friend and in my humble opinion it is enriched even more when it's with someone of the opposite sex because we can learn things we would have never thought of before.

hi wannabee's... i read on another thread that blondie was going to plant st joseph in her back yard to get her house sold. i never did like that method and so i did something else which worked for me. you must walk around your home and property nine times, all the time releasing your home and yourself to cherish your memories together and to move on to a new owner and a new life....couldn't hurt to try! everything is spiritual in life, after all....

To All in TV -

What is the market there like now? I was through a couple of years ago and it, like most of FL was overheated. Has TV's market died down a bit - are there a lot of houses on the market?

Tkret...I left...b/c....IDK...but it was a bad decision. I am freezing, sneezing, and throwing a temper tamtrum. My house will be on the market Thursday, and sold by Friday...I hope...b/c I have to get back to the bubble soon or I don't know what will become of me. :cus:
Evidently, the other Blondie left so I was able to slip out of the md and go straight to Blondie.

Welcome to the forum, Whisper1 :a040: Since I'm currently in s/Oregon and not in TV I don't know first-hand about the r/e market there, but if you click on The Villages home page, you can look at all the new homes and resale homes for sale, and their prices. I believe there are many bargains out there at the current time.

Unfortunately, I'm out of the market and don't know when I'll be back in. I'm too stubborn to lose money - I bought my Oregon Dream home 3 years ago at the height of the real estate boom and here I am -- STUCK -- bad timing, didn't see it coming, yadda-yadda-yadda :cus:

So, I hang out at TOTV and pretend I'm there

Do what I did and what most of our group has done: give us a heads-up prior to your arrival and we will meet you in Lake Sumter Landing. The first night I arrived, not knowing anyone, 10 great people met me and we spent a fabulous evening and 4 more days/evenings besides. We're waiting for YOU, now.

Have had alot of showings and one offer but the people really couldn't afford the house. I am lowering the price and hoping it will sell soon so I can come down and buy my dream Bonita in the Villages. Can't wait to meet all of you!!!!

I'm also a strong, single wannabee. My house in KY is sold, condo in South FL is on sale, and I'm coming up in two weeks to BUY!! I also have been thinking about a CYV (hopefully on a golf course). The Bonita is one of my favorites! Time is getting close now after looking at TV since 2004 and I'm so excited!!!

As they say in baseball, I'm 0 for 18 and still counting. Hoping to get a hit as I will lower my price but it is priced correctly according to my agent. Maybe he is wrong.

Condo been on the market since Jan 2009 and hasn't even got a nibble less an offer. :ohdear:

Feedback from open house is one person said they would have like to see the price lower and another person said they wanted to wait to see what the market yields going forward.

A carbon copy of my unit down the street sold in 41 days with a very similar price!!!!!!!!!!

Hoping and praying that it happens before the next winter hits.

My house up north has been on the market for two months...some nibbles. Starting to build in TV this week. Will have to make a decision when house is completed. Stay up north (Ohio) until house sells, or put in the hands of a realtor and move to TV during the summer.

I can retire as soon as August...I may go ASA end of December...at the latest, mid Feb 2012.

I have 165,000 free to put down. I would like a CYV with enough of a lania to install a hot tub. Ideally of concrete construction with little immediate need of updating.

Possible?

Good luck to all of you!

I have a dream story - arrived on a Saturday at the end of March - started looking on Sunday and found the perfect house - signed the Agreement of Sale on Monday - my home realtor called that evening to tell me there was an offer on my existing home (after only three weeks on the market). So I went back home - accepted the offer - gave notice at work that I was retiring - closed yesterday on my TV home - my last day at work is tomorrow - I'm packing all my things and will arrive next month.

Some things are meant to be!

I was down in the villages last June had a great time.
I will try walking around my house 9 times to see if it works for me.
Had an offer but way to low, people think because of the why the market is that we will give away our homes.:blahblahblah:
I hope things get better this spring. Good luck to you all.

I'll retire at the end of the year -- February at the latest....My ex-spouse bought me out so I have enough equity to purchase a Courtyard Villa. I can't wait to join you. Golf carts. Time for making art and music. Time to sleep in and then play with Rada, the wonder cat.

Then, hang out with the others and just connect.

My house in Englewood, FL has been up for sale since JULY 2010. Finally left my ex there to get it sold and was able to get myself a little patio villa in TV for a steal and with a little help from my big bro. Still a working wannabee in CT that is waiting for my condo to sell. If I had moved four years ago when the market was still good, I would have needed a job with medical benefits.

IMHO - Unfortunately, there are not many jobs available to skilled people unless you are in the health industry. You may have to consider using transferrable skills to find something. Of course, the pay scale will be reduced.

I'm not good at posting links but I believe there is a "Careers in The Villages" icon on www.thevillages.com web site. There is a Human Resources Department on Main St. by Spanish Springs that is an option.

Good Luck with your job search.

Ex's can seem to have lousy timing and mess with all our good feelings. Good luck with the sale of your house. I'm still in the sorting through 38 years of marriage and 28 of it in this house stuff. Working to get 2500 sq foot of stuff down to fit into a 1500 sq ft house! Not easy emotionally or physically, but I am getting there. I have made a vow to myself....if I ever make it to TV...I WILL NOT save things I am not actively using! I also WILL NOT purchase anything becasue it is on sale and I might need it. Better to pay full price when I need it then pay sale price only to never need it. :loco:
