Wife and I are coming down for our 2nd lifestyle visit in about 10 days....looks like we will be playing two courses we have not seen/played before .....Mallory Hill and Havana

Any golfers out there on TOTV that would like to comment on one or both of these courses????....pointers/advice appreciated.

Played Havana twice in early May. Nice elevation changes for a FLA course. Very playable since you can usually block out one side of the hole where the danger lies and the other side will be wide open. The greens were very receptive. I shot a 78 and a 80 from the middle and then back tees respectively. Not really long, especially the middle tees, so I used 3 wood or hybrid most of the time off the tee. Like any course that you haven't played before just keep it straight if you can until you know the course. I haven't played Mallory since I only visited for one week.

HAVANA HANDS DOWN IS THE BEST THREE 9 HOLES IN THE VILLAGES SO FAR I FEEL.

MALLORY DOESN'T COME CLOSE.

PALMER AND GLEN VIEW ARE A VERY CLOSE 2ND AND 3RD

Nothing wrong with Mallory other than it's very dry and hard right now. Like Amelia best of the 3 9s; Caroline is the hardest of the 3.

Both are beautiful.... we had a ton of rain with Kay and the grass grew rapidly. I played Havana Saturday and there were a lot of clumped up grass clippings everywhere which looked a bit sloppy.

My opinion is that all of the courses in The Villages are in great shape. This encludes the Executive Courses. I played Terra De Sol today and it was a treat. Three holes were cart path only they were 13 14 and 16 because of the rain that we had yesterday. All other holes were in great shape. Played Turtle Mound on Sunday with the wife and same great shape.

Terra De Sol now serves breakfast which as a fulltime residence I find is lacking. I would like to have breakfast before I play golf.

You will not find the conditions bad at this time I think that they are all great. If I had a problem it would be that with the rain they have not had proper time to mow in the rough. The greenskeeper at Terra ed Sol told us that they have mowed the greens three times in the last two days and they were fast he was correct. Last Thursday we played Mallory Amilia to Caroline it was in great shape.

You can't miss playing in The Villages at this time other than it is hot after 1:00 PM.

All courses are in great shape and it is summer rates which are cheap!

I play the Championship courses twice a week and they are great!

Cane Garden bar and resturant are closed this week for renivation. The bar at Mallory was packed today since Cane is closed many of the people that are regulars at Cane were at Mallory.

I agree with Russ, that Havana plays short. When we left in May, Havana was in awful shape, dry and hard. I'm assuming with the rain this summer, that the courses are in good shape, but don't know because we are up north. Mallory is a good test - Amelia is the easiest of the 9's on that course. It too was hard and dry, but hopefully has softened up. Good luck, and let us know how you make out. Generally, we have found Glenview, Palmer and Tierra to be in good shape all year round. The newer courses south of 466 have been disappointing in the winter as far as conditions go, with the exception of palmer. I understand they have watering restrictions on the newer courses.
