Ring around the moon

Don't know how long it will last, but there is a beautiful effect from the refraction of light from the moon through the cloud layers. 11:00 pm. My camera wouldn't pick it up, but if you step outside, it might still be visible.

I saw it when I was walking the dog, very beautiful. I don't know what causes it though.

Refraction of light off ice crystals in the upper atmosphere. Hopefully those ice crystals are headed north ;-)

I heard the same thing growing up on an Arkansas farm and usually it was right.
