I do not know how they could tell if you are a Republican or a Democrat when getting a ticket at the Villages Lake Sumter Ticket Office. The article is a little vague about where you get the tickets on Friday though??

It just looks like a first come, first served event and the people most excited to see Palin and get quickly in line for the tickets will be Republicans.

"Those attending the event must have tickets. A limited number of tickets are available. Tickets are free and will be available from 9 a.m. to noon Friday at Lake Sumter Landing Market Square. Tickets then will be available from noon to 6 p.m. Friday at Republican Headquarters, 1037 Canal St., at Lake Sumter Landing. Any remaining tickets will be available all day Saturday at Republican Headquarters. The distribution and requirement for tickets is similar to the system used in 2004 when President Bush visited."

Quote from Villages Daily Sun linked article.

Palin will come and deliver a good, rote speech. Men will salivate and comment about what a "babe" she is. Women will.... well, I don't understand women supporting her but, they'll smile and swoon a little, too. People will clap and jump up and down. Flags will wave. Signs will be held aloft. Yippee. "She's prettier in real life than on t.v.." The happy paper will say there were 3500+ people there, while other papers say 1000. The font size will be ginormous. Bush, the do-over. I get it.
Who will pay for the police security? Who will pay for the set-up and break-down? OUR amenity fees?
If Joe Biden wants to come will he be afforded the same location and "ticket security" that Palin is given?

Sarah's not coming??? Now what will I do with all of these tomatoes?

I can think of a host of reasons she's not coming.

1. She thought she could hunt and they hid the buffalo.
2. She can't remember the speech she's given at least 50 times.
3. She doesn't know where Florida is.
4. She thought Florida was a foreign country that could boost her Foreign
Policy Resume. (too bad, so sad.)
5. She's too busy watching Russia from her backyard.
6. Her beehive attacked her.
7. She's holding out for more money from the Morse's.
8. McCain is having her Crazy Glued to his arm.
9. She found out that the "Fundamentals and Foundation" McCain was
talking about is not her push-up bra.
10. They're opening up a new crystal meth lab in Wasilla and she has to
be there for the ribbon cutting.

Sigh. She's a busy, busy lady!

Last fall several Republican candidates visited The Villages. In January I did go see John McCain. This said, I will never understand why Democrat candidates are not invited here to speak. I would love to hear and see Obama and Biden, however with less than two months until the election I doubt this will happen.

The Morse's are staunch Republicans. The Dems can't even get a room at one of the Rec Centers, much less be allowed to speak in the Town Squares.

Ooops, I thought this was America. :undecided:

TV doesn't invite these candidates to come here. It's arranged thru the state and local party organizations. During primary season, the Dems boycotted Florida, avoiding it almost as if it were Fox News. Evidently the local Democrat group (?) is incapable of organizing anything bigger than a coffee klatch at the cajun restaurant. They will, of course, blame their failures on THE DEVELOPER.

Thanks Muncle. Ah, a voice of reason. How refreshing.

I hope Sarah doesn't visit TV until I get there. I'm bringing ear muffs and a blindfold for my dear friend Chels. And handcuffs so she can't throw her rotten tomatoes.

I'd also love to see Obama, Biden or McCain. I admire them all, it is a thankless task to run for political office. You need lots of tenacity and a thick skin to handle all the criticism that goes with the political race.

Well, if there is a rally of any kind by any of the candidates, it will be important for the planners to remember that there is no place at the gazebos at Lake Sumter Landing or Spanish Springs to be able to be in front of the audience and have a telepromter plugged in at the same time....

Conn8757,

I've read that too and it makes me wonder what's wrong with the world in which we live. Maybe Palin's personal hygiene products in the garbage will be the next thing through which these bottom feeders snoop, it's disgusting! No wonder John McCain doesn't use a computer, looks like all of us that do use one are stupid. And if Palin's email is be hacked maybe Obamas' or Michelles' email or yours and mine is next.

I'm also put off by the references of throwing tomatoes at the political candidates made in this forum. These candidates, whether we agree with their policies or not, are running to serve US and our country and at least deserve basic repect. I'm sure the comments were made in jest but any reference to physical attack of any of the candidates makes me very nervous. There are people who walk a very thin line in regards to sanity and God forbid they would take any of these references a step further and pick up a gun. We've lived that in this country and those were our worst days!

When Bush was here there was a stage set up over by the radio station area. Trees were temprarily removed and bleachers set up for VIP's. The gazebo was not used that day.
When there was a rally at SS with Lee Greenwood there were Democrats hanging around with signs. When interviewed they said they wanted to see and hear Lee Greenwood but did not want anyone to think they were Republicans.

Any threats of this type are now treated 'very seriously.' It would be very unwise for anyone to indicate that they may bring possible harm or upset to any political figure. It isn't the sixties anymore.

OK, now, I wasn't really going to throw tomatoes! Did you think I was? Hmmm. You've got to be kidding. I wouldn't walk across the street to see her, much less go into the town square.

As far as respect goes, that's not going to happen. I don't respect this woman for accepting a position she's clearly not equipped for. And I clearly don't respect her stands on anything. Every time she opens her mouth (even yesterday) she inserts her foot!

I am going to go see Sarah Palin for 2 reasons...1)She is in this election and 2)coming to my hometown.

I come from NH where ,early on in the process, the candidates for the presidency are a dime a dozen and you can sit in someone's living room with them. Now that I live here in TV I haven't had that opportunity. I am delighted to have the chance to size up Sarah. I would attend a rally for McCain, Obama and Biden if given the opportunity. To me it is all part of the process, I need to see them for real, so much more informative than what the pundits tell me or the photographers and journalists present.

I have always been a registered Independant until moving to FL where you have to declare a party. I honestly haven't decided who I will vote for. I read a statistic that a large number of woman voters do not actually decide until they vote...that's me. So if Sarah wants my vote she needs to impress me on Sunday.

Hahaha, Frank. Yes! We do have some lively debates, many very humorous. But, you see my husband and friends understand me. They know that I never mean anything personally. I find that humor takes the edge off of things. How the reader wants to perceive it, is their problem.

Besides my husband, all of my true friends tend not to be insecure people that have problems with a little good humored jabbing. I'm really not of the mind set that "everyone must agree with everyone" it's silly and unrealistic. If I were to lose a "friend" over a political position, then they were not a true friend to begin with. I simply weed out these people.

My husband has a very dry sense of humor, so our debates can actually get very funny and we just fall down laughing and hug each other. I wouldn't have married him if he couldn't stand up to me. I don't like mealy mouthed people! :)

I haven't spent tons of time researching it, but I read somewhere that this was a poor reason...that Mr. Obama is more middle eastern then black.....200 years ago his relatives were more slave traders then slaves......but either way, it is a poor reason. I doubt if any of us going for a job would want to have it be decided by our relatives 200 years ago.

I find it disterbing that many who I know are voting for Mr. Obama are doing so out of frustration with Bush.......to that thinking I respond....President Bush is not running this year.....he is done in a few months.

Back to Sarah....she's pro-life, pro-gun, has executive experience, is tough, she is against the cronyism, walks what she talks, she is a pilot, she is not from Washington DC, etc,etc.....I was bummed when Ron Paul dropped out early.....but now with Sarah, there is a bit of hope again.

The most they could dig up on her...... Trooper-gate?? That guy is a whack job that should be fired!

Boy, I wish I was down there to see her.....oh well. Enjoy!!

I know you were not referring to me, but just to make sure, I was not saying you said that......I do not know who the person was referring to.....I was just stating my opinion that the reason would, IMHO, be a foolish reason by itself.

I know we are of different opinions politically, but I try to get along with all.

I've learned long ago that in all of the great debates, they are what they are simply because credible arguments can be made on each side. If they were not that way, none of the issues would be an issue for very long.
