Who is responsible for the upkeep of the roads in The Villages? Is it uniform or does it vary according to the County you live in? Thank you for any information you might have. Inccidently while typing this I looked for the abc spell checker to highlight so that I might download the spell checker. I even saw a picture of where it should be in the window, but it is not there. A mystery!

For the most part roads in TV are the responsibility of County or in area inside of Lady Lake, the City is. Exception are roads in Villa areas, they are owned and maintained by the respective numbered CDD's.
BTW, I have also been looking for spell check in this new format. Administrator Tony said he thought there should be an icon above the message area, but I can't fid it.

Everyone says it is easy to set up but no one is telling us how.
Click on Reply. Click on the ABCcheckmark in the upper left hand corner. Click on OK. Download and Install IeSpell. Shutdown all IE windows and restart IE. Click on Tools on the IE task bar and click in IeSpell Options to configure it for your use.
Bring up TOTV and do a reply. Click on Tools on the IE task bar and click on IeSpell to check the spelling.
During the first reply you will get a request to download an active X control. Click okay. Before you click OK save what you were typing because it will go bye-bye.

My understanding is that in Sumter Co the roads are maintained by the county but in Marion Co the roads are maintained by the CDD is this not correct?

Still can't find it. Must be that I am using Mozilla Firefox and not Microsoft's Internet. Explorer. Had to switch after I ran into big problems with IE Version7.0. I think MS messed me up with update that all of a sudden would not enable me to connect to Google.

I use Firefox and I don't have the ABC button. But the strange thing is that my misspells get RED underlined as I type them without the extra ABC button or the downloadable spell software. Not sure what application is doing the spell check unless it is Firefox itself.
After I wrote the above paragraph I noticed that Firefox has an option to check spelling as you type. TOOLS/OPTIONS/ADVANCED/GENERAL then click the check box to check your spelling. Hence there is no need for the optional spell checker.

Kathie - See my previous post on spell checker in Firefox.
It is in version 2.XX of Firefox but not in version 1.XXX
Simply upgrade to the latest version and you should get automatic spell check in Firefox.

All roads except Buena Vista Blvd are maintained by CDD4 in Marion county.
I believe that in Sumter county, the roads are 'turned over" to Sumter county after a period of times - I think two years. At that time the call buttons are turned into gate open buttons. I am not sure if Sumter county maintains the roads in the different Villages. I think it is just the main roads.
This was a big thing a couple of years ago when they started turning the call buttons into gate open buttons.
Someone out there correct me if I am wrong.

I have Firefox Version 3.0 and it has been automatically identifying and underlining the misspelled words in Red. With Firefox the ABC icon does not appear on page as it does for Internet Explorer users.
Once detected by Firefox, you just have to right click on the word and a drop down menu appears with suggested correctly spelled words. You then click on the right word and voila it is fixed.:2excited:
I haven't been using Firefox for very long, so I am still learning and so far, I like it.:clap2:

Thanks for all the comments about my inability to find the abc icon to download the spellchecker. I also use Firefox! Also thanks for the tip on setting up Firefox to activate its own spell checker.
As for the roads in Marion County, I hope the roads stay good. It seems that would be a huge liability for CCD4. Resurfacing of roads cannot be cheap!
