If you bought a resale home did you have your own realtor, or did you need to use a Villages realtor, of did you simply use use the seller's realtor? I've always delieved the buyer needs a realtor to look out for their interest since the seller has one looking out for their interests.

We used a realtor outside of the Villages. His name is Ken Casey and he was wonderful. I think using a Villages only realtor limits you. I would actually use both while looking since an outside realtor can not show homes listed with The Villages and a Villages realtor will not show you re-sales listed with outside realtors. ALWAYS, always ask if there is a bond left to be paid.

The Villages has its own listing service for "used" homes -- VLS; these homes do not appear on the state-wide MLS listings. They can only be shown by a Villages agent.
If the home is listed outside the Villages system, on MLS, you must get an outside agent to show it to you. Then of course there are the for-sale-by-owner (FSBO) listings. The home sellers must choose how to list their home, and you are stuck with their choice if you are interested in their home.
I looked at all of the different types of listings (plus new homes) and the one I chose was an MLS listing. Lyle Gant handled the transaction for us and did a wonderful job. His web site explains all of your options and is full of useful information, whichever way you finally go. Highly recommended. http://www.lylesellsfla.com/
We are also working with Lyle Gant as our "MLS" agent and are very pleased with his service so far.
