For all of the complaints about lawyers controlling DC, it is interesting that:

the Democrats have two lawyers as the banner-carriers,

while the Republicans have two persons who never attended law school, but have considerable experience in things other than what they teach in law school.

I sure would hate to see two more lawyers leaving government service and having to get jobs in the private sector. We need more lawyers in government......(did I really say that?)

And that goes for either party.
They are trained word smiths. To interpret to suit the case at hand. To manipulate and convince, with words, the naieve.
Sounds like the definition of a politician.
It is one of the main reasons there is no progress in Washington by the law making bodies of Congress and the Senate.

Remember the good ones are in private practice....not in Washington DC wit a part time job of accomplishing not much of anything for we the people.

No more lawyers....either party.

Based upon the above quote from btk, it appears Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld will be awarded law degrees shortly. It's about 8 years overdue!
