Wife and a I will soon be at TV for a lifestyle visit.....we know we will be playing at 2 championship courses on the lifestyle card.

We understand that because we are not "residents" that we cannot play the executive courses...but if we wanted to play at one of the Championship courses, over an above the 2 lifestyle rounds, does anyone know if that is permitted??

you can play the executive courses, guests on the sales preview package are treated like residents.

My understanding is you can play on the executive courses on a lifestyle visit. I believe you need to bring clubs though. Can someone confirm? Is there somewhere you can rent clubs? We will be there next week and were told that clubs will be provided for our complimentary play at the championship course but we are flying (without clubs) can we get clubs somewhere to play at the executive courses? Thanks for any responses!

Great questions! When we came last year for our lifestyle experience we played Palmer, Mallory and Glenview. We paid for one of the rounds but we brought our clubs ( a GIANT pain in the airport). I really wanted to play an executive course but we ran out of time. In retrospect I think I was suspicious the execs were going to be dorkey pitch and putts but believe me, they are mostly challenging and beautiful. If you cant get to play an exec why don't you go to a few at the end of the day and simply walk the cart path. Go to Heron and/or Pelican at sunset (they re right beide each other) and stroll the courses. After you do you'll definitely want to become Villagers

RSH - I think they frown very highly on 'just walk the course' in TV. You can walk and play but not just walk. Any guest can play the execs except the three that are 'residents only'.

Sorry for the hijack but Donna asked:

I made a reservation on Airtrans web site for a round trip flight from Philadelphia to Orlando.( A trip to the Villages to look around). They sent a confirmation email which I saved on my computer for future reference but I didnt open it because I thought I already knew what it said.

A few weeks later I was surfing to find a good car rental deal for my trip and found one. Knowing I would need my flight number for the reservation, I opened my Airtran confirmation. To my shock it showed my flight originating in Orlando instead of Philly and returning to Orlando the same day! I know this wasnt what I had booked and my lovely wife was standing next to me watching when I did it because she wanted a say on seat assignments. She agrees that the booking was changed.

I called Airtran and they wouldnt budge on changing the flight without a $150 charge. I spoke to a supervisor and told her (Rebecca #025) theres no way I would be booking a round trip same day flight originating 2000 miles away it just doesnt make sense. She said people do it every day, but I find that hard to believe. We are retired so there wouldnt be a business reason. Out of frustration I told her to cancel the flight and I booked a new flight on another airline. Airtran kept $150 and will only issue a credit for the rest. I am still disputing the charge with AMEX.

The Airlines push you to use their web sites for booking, then want you to pay through the nose when theres a computer error. I refuse to believe we made so many mistakes, wrong city and wrong dates on the home page. Then wrong flights on the next page and chose seats again on the wrong days. Something had to have gone wrong with the computer system. Airtran is still maintaining that "rules are rules". I do not let principle die easily. I will cancel AMEX if they do not uphold my disputed charge. Just they way I roll.

We were just on the lifestyle preview a week ago. My husband played Palmer and Havana. He could have paid to play more at another country club. He was told he could choose to book one of his two free rounds at an excutive course, but he did not. He was told he could only play on the executive courses (unless he chose to use the preview two) if a resident invited him. He never tried to just go to one to see if he could get on with his pass.

Just so you know...I am an expert complainer with Airtran....I actually got three of us upgrades to business class for four round trips.....
It is all in who you talk to...and unfortunately how many people you talk to....I don't give up and will call many times with any complaint nec.

Just keep calling....talk to everyone..insist on managers and then supervisors of the managers....don't give up!!!

Ok...high jack over....we can start a new thread about airlines if we need to...sorry!

Guests of any type can play the executive courses with the following two exceptions: (both were taken directly from the TV golf website)

Guests under the age of 19 must be accompanied by a Villages resident or a Villages guest, 19 or over, with a valid guest and photo ID.
Play on Silver Lake, Mira Mesa and De La Vista golf courses is reserved for golfers with resident privileges only. No guests are permitted on these courses.

A green fee is required for guests to play golf. The fee ranges from $6.50 in the months of May to October and $10.00 from November to April. Guests are obligated to an additional $3.50 trail fee, unless they are walking, regardless of whether the sponsoring resident has a paid trail fee or not.

Kind of strange how you get different answers from people when the information is clearly available on the TV website: http://golfthevillages.com/executive-golf/

I'm sure there are others, but thee golf store at Lake Sumter Landing (Golf USA???) has some rentals. Suspect you could also get them at the adult courses.

I used the rental clubs provided at the Lopez course during my first visit to TV. They were Walmart Specials. If you want to play with pro-line clubs, bring your own. We enjoyed our second visit more by traveling with two sets of clubs in one travel bag.

Thanks for the tip, Muncle. I have a real challenge though, my wife is a lefty. Womens left handed clubs may be tough to find but we'll try! You should see what I have to go through to find her gloves. I usually have to order by mail. lol :a20:

I'll be making my first visit to TV in mid November for a month - staying in Sabel Chase, just north of Bacell and Bogart golf courses. Any suggestions as to how busy these two courses, as well as Mallory Hills and Havana might be?

I am a young (56 years old) PGA professional who will be looking for some games while at TV. Any info on costs or other interesting comments would be welcomed. Thanks in advance.

Welcome Dinch!

Nothing, other than saying I wish I was down there to give you a game. We'd have to negotiate the strokes but...

I've only played Havana in April and it was not very busy at that time. I can imagine that it gets slightly more crowded in Nov. but I'm sure you can get out. I think you'll like Havana from the back tees. Not long but shot placement is key to score well. The greens are still a little immature (I think it has been open less than a year) but they are probably getting better all the time.

If you are going to be there next May give me an e-mail and I'd love to get out. As long as you don't mind playing with a 10!

for what its worth.....having received various opinions to my original question here....i sent an email to the TV golf web site asking the question

took two emails to finally get an answer and in the end....they bailed out and sent the email to the sales office

they phoned me and stated without question...that on a lifestyle visit, you can choose championship or executive course to each of the two free gold outings you get.....beyond the two free golf outings, you can play a championship course in a fee basis, but....you ABSOLUTELY CANNOT play an executive course on a fee basis, using your lifestyle card, unless you are a guest of a resident.

Thanks Tank - I guess there is a difference between a preview guest and a resident guest. It wouldn't be very hard to get a resident guest card from someone since they are free though.

I understand that my wife and I will both have to purchase a "Resident ID" at a price of $50 each while visiting TV. We are renting a home in Sabel Chase privately in November. Otherwise, one of us may be restricted as to some of the facilities we can use. :1rotfl:

Could someone please help me better understand the system. Is one resident ID per family needed for the extent of our stay, or is one ID per person required to play golf, go to the pool, etc.

Thanks for any info you can give me. :clap2:

Dinch,

It is one $50 fee for the household, not for each guest. You pay a one time $50 fee, the owners "turn in" their resident IDs, and you and your wife now assume their resident privileges. This entitles you to resident fees for golf, movies, etc.

Yes you can rent golf clubs at TV. I played with a guy that rented clubs and he was returning them to one of the courses south of Sumter Landing. I think it was Havana but you can check into that. But you can definitely rent clubs a at least one of the courses. On your lifestyle visit you will get 2 executive and 2 CC courses. Enjoy!

We came on a LSV the last week of April and I requested two rounds at a Championship course during our seven day visit. They said due to the snowbirds I only got one round at Cain Garden (Championship) and one round at Heron (Executive). I was a little disappointed but as it turns out it's good to see a little bit of everything.

April wasn't that long ago, and yet we sold our house in Baltimore in May in just one day, closed on our Courtyard Villa in Tamarind Grove on July 5th. Since early August I've played all four of the championship courses this side of 466 twice, I've been able to hit all 27 holes on the four courses. Today I played Bacall which was my sixth executive course. It's fun seeing everything.
