as far as i know.....there are two options.....a limo service or the Villages shuttle
for some info on the shuttle....click on Search near the top of the page and enter villages shuttle and u can read a bunch of comments on the service
not sure about the limo service but i understand there are a number available...you may want to as you Villages rep about that topic

Also search on Florida Jitney and go to the virginiatrace.com web site, look at "good services" and transportation for a list of limo drivers.

If you're only staying for a short time I have found it economical to rent a car from enterprise.

FYI...I just called Enterprise fora quote for a car one way - Orlando to TV for one day - was quoted $113...TV shuttle much cheaper for one...

Jim-259-8161
I think their fee is 45.00

Nonie, you gave the same telephone number for both people. Is it just one business, or are there two separate car services?

I checked out this service. I sometimes have company arriving or departing after the Villages Shuttle Service stops running. We used the Florida Jitney but that doesn't seem to be an option anymore.
This service is only good if you have your own vehicle here in TV. The fee is $45.00 for a pick-up or a delivery to Orlando airport using your car and your gas. They come to your home and leave their car and take your vehicle to the airport. Basically they are being paid for their time.
It sounds perfect for us as we have our own vehicle. I just don't like to drive to the airport. I'm using their service for the first time on Sunday night.

I've used Enterprise before and it was always less expensive than the shuttle to get from the airport to TV. What kind of car? That certainly can't be the one-day cost of an economy car. I'd call back and make sure it's an economy car and there is no drop-off fee. For whatever reason, there is a drop off fee when you go from TV to the Airport, but none from the Airport to TV. That's about $50 more. But the total for 2 days was always less than the total for TV shuttle.

Renting a car is expensive if you take the insurance offered by the rental car company. Perhaps that is the price difference.
Many drivers don't have to take the rental company's insurance because their credit card covers it.
We have used a Village resident named "Charlie" on several occasions and he charged us less than the shuttle. The best part is that he picks you up at your door and drives you directly to your gate at the airport and visa versa.
So there is no need to worry about how to get from the shuttle drop off to your residence. He is extremely dependable and friendly. I have recommended him to many of my friends and they ALL found him to be outstanding. His number is 352-205-1212 or 352-430-3925. If he doesn't pick up, he will call you back in a short time.
I have found with Enterprise that their rates change according to the season. Once a friend paid only $18.75 to rent a car from the airport to the Villages in September :laugh:and then around Christmas that same vehicle would have cost $96. Needless to say, this friend called Charlie to pick him up.
Once again, we have to remind people that chauffeurs should have proper licensing and insurance.

To amplify a little on Tony's post. If you hire an uninsured individual to cut your lawn and his mower throws a rock through the neighbors window, causing damage and injury, you are as responsible as him. You are the employer he is your employee.
If you are riding with a hired car that is unlicensed (state taxi/livery license) and uninsured and there is an accident. You are the employer. You can be held responsible for any damage, injury or death that occurs.
Think about it. In a court of law, the attorney saying, "this person (you) hired this man (the driver) to take them to the airport. "As the result of this action, my client is injured to the tune of $1,000,000." Guess who's on the hook.
In addition, if you are hurt, and the driver is not properly insured, you are out of luck.
ALWAYS ASK IF THE DRIVER AND THE COMPANY IS PROPERLY LICENSED AND INSURED. THEN ASK TO SEE PROOF. IF HE SAYS HE ISN'T, SAY "THANK YOU, GOOD BYE."

I called The Villages Enterprise office and the Orlando Airport office (transfers you to the national office) and the price was about the same for a compact car for one day. I don't know if there was a drop-off fee or not as I asked for a quote for pick up at the Orlando airport and drop off at The Villages. Also, the price was for the car before any insurance options. I just went to the Enterprise website and searched for an economy car for four hours with pick up and return at The Villages (no option for one way) and the price was $48.79. There was an 800 number for one way...presumably at a higher price.

I'm sorry that I neglected to mention that this driver "Charlie" is fully insured and licensed ( I have seen proof) so I feel quite comfortable in recommending his service. He is convenient and courteous and reasonable.:a040:

I just used the Villages Shuttle service from the Orlando airport for the first time yesterday, and it was great; very convenient, left and arrived on schedule, and the bus is very comfortable. It was also a comfort to realize that since the shuttle makes trips all day, I could have gotten the next shuttle (that would have been a two hour wait, but, hey, I would have just had dinner and a glass of wine and chilled out), had my plane been late.
It costs $35 each way, but I learned from another passenger on the bus that after you buy 4 round trip tickets, the fifth round trip is free, which would bring the per round trip cost down to $56. Factoring in the savings on gas and Florida Turnpike tolls (which if I remember right are around $9 or more each way), and in not putting the miles on your auto, the cost is not bad.

I believe the Jitney has gone out of business. Left town and didn't even pay their employees there back wages for a number of weeks. These were Villages people too.
