Last year or maybe 2 years ago the Collier Club was collecting money online for a party. The fee was not very much, less than 5% as I recall and it saved a lot of time and energy. This is Cheddar Up's ad.

https://www.cheddarup.com/

How it Works
Cheddar Up allows you to create your very own custom payment page on the fly so people can pay you online for almost anything — we call it a tab.

People can pay online in 3 clicks
No fees for the collector
Collect for multiple amounts/items
Customize a form to go with your tab
Payment tracking (including cash or check)
Send automatic reminders

There are other companies providing the same service. I just picked this one because it was at the top of the google search list. And they charge only 45 cents for each payment made and it is paid by the payee not the collector.

If you have used a service like this, one way or another could you tell me about your experience, good or bad, one way or another?

Seems like it would be ripe for fraud, especially in a 55+ community. You give payment info, and get just what in return? I'd rather get "the IRS is filing a lawsuit against you" call---at least I know they're not. But with this, one could believe they're going to aunt Tillie's party and get their identity stolen instead.

Is that your gut reaction?
I want to collect for a neighborhood event without the hassle. So I'm looking for something easy.
I'll bet there is something out there that works that is safe. I can track down the person that runs the Collier Club and ask what they use.

I would need a lot more information about this before using it.

That's why I asked this group. I figure there is a lot of of collecting going on with all these clubs.
I tried searching "group collecting sites review." But that didn't find what I was looking for.

Safest way is still probably to sell tickets, cash in advance, no refunds for no shows, all sales final, US currency, check for counterfeits. PITA, will also decrease your golf time

What about Paypal? I have used that to send money to a friend, and it was free.

Would that mean all my neighbors would need a paypal account too?

Yes - they might already have an account!

Ceddar up asks for my SSN. I'm not thrilled with that.
