I was quoted a rather high price to put a re-vinylizing agent on a five-year old cottage. The vinyl had a chalky residue (only on east and south facing sides) AFTER it was power washed by the same company that sells this agent. I have a 26-year old ranch in CT that has never needed this. I was born at night, but not last night. Thoughts, anyone?

Sounds like they used something caustic to do that wash?
What company was it?
I googled re-vinylizing agent, no such thing??/

Curious what you consider a high price? The Florida sun wreaks havoc on everything so no surprise the east and south sides took a hit. We had a power wash done a few years ago and they applied some sort of coating afterward that made it look like new. The process was only around $60 additional dollars - maybe this would work for you. Not in The Villages anymore so have no idea how it held up nor do I remember the name of the company. Sorry - just some food for thought.

I consider $3000+ high.

Enger's. Power washing was not caustic, to the best of my knowledge.

then what was it that caused the finish to fade or discolor.
For $3,000 I can put new siding on
