View Full Version : Parking on Street / CYV

We have a CYV and if we have overnight guests, would they be allowed to park in the street in front of our villa? We are not full timers, and when we do come down we are driving a Tundra double cab and it would be a hassle to park it in the garage and have guests park in the driveway as we also do not own a golf cart yet which would mean that our visitors would have to do the driving unless we shuffled cars everyday...I guess we could put their vehicle in the garage if that is the only option we have.
Love the CYV, but hate the driveway and one car garage...

I live in a CYV and I know your problems. Most CYV areas have a parking area for guest ours will accomidate about 8 cars and ours is empty now. Ours is about 7 villas away but I have used it several times it is just a little walk. Also you might ask your neighbors if they know any snowbirds that will not be in for a while that you could park in their drive. Most snowbirds would like for a car to be in their drive from time to time to look like someone is home.
The rules are that you are not to park in the street of a CYV. However many people do. About 2 years ago The Village watch came around our villa and told everyone about the rule. Many people with 2 cars in the drive pull one all the way up and the second car sit partly in the street. This is still against the rule but many do it.

I would suggest that the primary reason for the onstreet parking ban is to provide access for emergency vehicles.I would hate to think at because of my selfish attitude about proper parking that someone lost their life.I have seen many times where cars are blocking access also by parking on both sides of the street(ie.yard sales, partys, tap dancing practice ect)

I thought that would be the case, but just wanted to confirm. I know there is a parking area up the street from us that we thought was for guest parking - Thanks!

We have a CYV and you can fit two cars in the driveway with care. Also, visitors are supposed to be the only ones who use the excess parking. They are NOT for residents who have multiple cars. It is a bit of a walk from the excess parking for some villas but at least we have some extra places.
We do have one neighbor who watches the excess spaces and when he sees a car there for more than a few days, we calls Village Watch and they find out if it is resident owned and if so, the resident is told to move it. Of course, this person is not well loved in the neighborhood but it is the rule that the excess parking is for visitors not residents.
When we moved here, we brought only one car and bought a golf cart. That is all we need to get around. When we have company, they park in our driveway. If more than one car then we do use excess parking.
I am far more annoyed by the RVs who park in front of their homes for more than the 72 hours allowed in the rules. They make it difficult to get around the street!
