We have just survived the winds of hurricane Ike here in Ohio (as we prepare to move to The Villages as soon as our house sells), and now we wonder--what is the likelihood of using a generator in TV? How often do you have power outages there? And how long do they usually last? We will appreciate any input.

I have two generators in the garage and used one of them for an hour when an underground distribution cable broke several weeks ago. It was totally unhurricane related. Never had a weathe related outage in 5 years.

Us too. I mean we survived IKE in the dark for awhile. Here in Cincinnati. Where did IKE blow out your candle?

We will be heading to Hadley in a couple of weeks. Hope to survive the election there.

Neighbor installed a large generator for over $5,000 and she never needed to use it in the last 3 years, however, I know it's there because it starts up every Monday at 1:00pm and runs for 20 minutes.

We are in Kettering--just south of Dayton. We have pretty frequent power outages in our neighborhood with big trees...from the replies it does not appear to happen often in The Villages...that's good news us...we're tired of it. We spent 7 days in the dark after IKE, but many people had to survive 14 days.
We hopefully won't be here much longer...coming to TV as soon as the house sells!
