If there are going to be Syrian refugees coming to the USA, why not establish shelter camps for them? The Camps would be clean housing and more importantly keep the Syrians in a safe and contained area until their country is safe enough for them to be returned.
The National Guard could do their duty by standing guard at the camps. Public Health officials could provide the medical care inside the shelters. We do not have to provide Hyatt Regency comfort but good basic care and comfort would suffice.

Go back to Syria after being in the USA...that ain't why they came here!!
I would guess maybe 2% are even concerned about ever going home.....the other 98% are here for life...generations and generations more to come!

Those camps already are in place. The largest is in Oregon. But there are a number of them in many place in the US. Been there for years.

If the federal government wants to bring in refugees, why not settle them on federal land of which they own several million acres. Then the federal government can do for the refugees what they've done for the Indians.

I'm thinking Washington, DC.

Last time I drove through D.C. it appeared as if the refugees had already landed.

You should rephrase that to "immigrants wiith lots of money." The median homeprice in Washington, DC is $550,000.

Cardboard on the grates doesn't cost that much.
