1958 doesn't seem like ancient history to most of us Villagers, does it? We can all remember things we were doing back then.

There is a movie being made in Virginia called "Loving" about Richard and Mildred Loving. They were an inter-racial married couple from Virginia. They got married in 1958 in Washington DC and went to live in Virginia. They were jailed in Virginia for "unlawful cohabitation" and had to move out of the state or go to prison. They moved. It was not until 1967 that the Supreme Court struck down that Virginia law.

It is amazing to think how times have changed - for the better!

In some respects, but worst in others. And I do believe that the best is in the past.

Can you elaborate on what ways you believe the ways are better now as well as how they are worse?

Better technology
Better standard of living, at least until this administration which has caused it to stagnate.
Better health standards. Mortality rate has improved.
Better transportation, faster transportation.
Multitude of entertainment (good and bad)
Crime rate down
Internet (unlimited supply of information)

Worstening racial relations since 2009 (thanks Obama)
More people on food stamps than ever
Record high poverty level
Middle class standard of living stagnation
Terrorism, without reprisal
America's loss of world respect
Giant national debt
Legalizing drug usage
War against religion
Socialist influence in America (we used to fight wars against it)
Lack of morality
Lack of ethics
Public toleration of sexual deviancy
Juvenile lack of respect of elders
Partisan divisiveness caused mostly by this president
Weak president. Weakest since Carter.

I could go on but then it would appear that I am complaining.

If it was bait, it worked, as evidenced by the ridiculous post above.

As if we could not predict "public toleration of sexual deviants" from him. Isn't that very similar to the inter-racial marriages that were just starting, but illegal in many states, of the 1950's?

Juvenile disrespect of elders? Wasn't "Rebel Without a Cause" one of the most popular movies?

Legalizing drug usage? To my knowledge only two states allow recreational marijuana - andmedical marijuana should be allowed eerywhere with a valid prescription. Don't forget that there was an epidemic of housewives on Valium in the 1950's and male alcoholism was at a record number.

The other tripe in your post is just your usual anti-Obama ranting so it does not count for anything.

Excellent start.
I am amazed at the non response from the Obama regime supporters.

Perfect example of liberal response using unrelated extreme. If you don't like my deal, then the ONLY alternative is WAR. BS and more BS. If you don't want to pay for women's birth control, then it's a war on women. More BS. Typical responses from liberals.

I compare the inter-racial marriages of the 1950's with the same-sex marriages of today.

The conservatives of the 1950's were totally against inter-racial marriages and the conservatives of today are totally against same-sex marriages.

I would venture to guess there are still many of the conservatives today who are still against inter-racial marriages.

Trivia: What television had the first inter-racial kiss. Name the characters, too. Be honest and do not google it first.

Your continuing anti-Obama rants are not relevant. No one is listening you talk to yourself.

Try to concentrate and stay on point. You may be sunsetting now so it might be better to reply in the morning when your senses are not shutting down.

I have known a few gay black men and a few gay black women. I have known a greater number who are straight.

Same for white men and women.

Are you STILL beating your wife? Just a yes or no answer, please. See how stupid your reply was?

Is it any more stupid than suggesting that interracial marriage is the equivalent of gay marriage? The only similarity is the use of "marriage" in the comment. I suppose that PC only counts when the conversation originates from the conservatives, right? Most blacks consider being associated with the gay lifestyle to be an affront, so I suggest that the association was stupid to begin with.
