My son is coming down for 4 days and wants to golf everyday. The courses here are great but a little expensive. I'm picking him up at Orlando. I use golfnow.com. Do you know any great courses around the Orlando area?

Do you have any great advice on deals for really nice courses if we are willing to travel?

Within an hour: World Woods, Juliette Falls, Red Tail, Mission Inn, International GC (formerly Deer Island), Harbor Hills, Orange County National, Brooksville CC. Just Google these and get current cost information.

If you get the chance play Bella Collina.A bit on the expensive side but worth every penny!

Cost probably as much as, or more, than The Villages.
Example; Mission Inn $33 to $49

Alot to be said for loading up the clubs on a golf cart, drive down the street and playing a nice country club at a decent price. Rounds of golf for guests right now is about $50 for most of the clubs.

We didn't like this course at all. The area surrounding it looks like it's just not taking off. We thought the course was difficult. The pro shop/restaurant buildings were pretty and very Tuscan looking but would never go back. Of course IMHO. I love being able to get in my cart and have a choice of so many courses here.

Eagle Ridge, Harbor Hills, Stonecrest, Ocala National , and Spruce Creek are all local and have rates of $25-$35 for 18 holes and a cart. You can't find rates like that anywhere in Orlando!!!

GolfNow is your best bet for finding good rates. Forget Spruce Creek, it is in bad shape this year. Ditto with Marion Oaks and Huntington. Candler Hills is nice, if you get a good rate. Monarch at Royal Highlands is a fun course. Same with Plantation.

It has gotten better in the past few weeks. I can look the other way somewhat when the afternoon rate is $15 with cart for 18.

Golf cart accessible from TV via the Ho Che Minh Trail to 441 Walmart and frontage road to stoplight into Spruce Creek South.

Thanks for all the advice. We played Mission Hills, the Del Web course and 4 execs. Mission Hills was great.

We played at Disney's lake Buena Vista last week for $38.80 including tax. With your village ID card you get Orlando resident rates.
