If a color coated driveway with a design in the center is worn and no longer attractive, what do you do with it? Can it be recoated in a different color? Can it just be painted with concrete color paint?

Good question. I was wondering the same thing. Looking forward to the answer to that question.

Someone in our Village just did that....had a painted driveway with a design...it was old...so he painted over it...a very blue....blue....not sure I like the color but neverless it looks like it can be done....
We actually saw him painting it....sometimes with a roller...othertimes with several friends and family helping with paint brushes....all in all it seemed to take him 2 days with help and no rain.

I am assuming you mean a painted driveway? The people that did ours, have redone some that needed a pick me up..
So..I guess that is what's done..Not too sure about the center design although, I guess they just paint over it and redesign it..

I think I am a Yankee. I don't like painted driveways very much.

gg, I have lived in the midwest most of my life and never saw a painted driveway until I came to TV. I really liked the painted driveways from the first time I saw one. It was one of the first things we had done and I love it.

I agree GG....I don't really like them either....thankfully while they can do it in most of our village....back here in the CYV area no one is allowed to touch their driveways.....all must be the same.....plain old plain....and I love it!!!

We have a stained driveway...not a painted one. It's guaranteed for 10 years and if it fades it will get restained at no extra cost. It has no graphics per The Villages regulations for a Villa and is very subtle.
It looks so much better than our plain concrete and provides a very clean curb appeal.
JohnN...did you drive by and look at ours?

I guess I did not know that could be done...hhmmm.....do you know what company you used.....or what kind of stain it was....perhaps we can do ourselves....

Thanks for the replies. One of the homes we are looking at has one that is past its prime. Sounds like it could just be painted over with gray paint.

Here in Ohio I have heard it said "Mah tars are as hot as far". And they get that hot down there in TV too, even hotter, and when they do you get ugly tire marks on the driveway. It is like scribbling on a Monet when it's painted. That's my view but I am not "coffeed up" yet this morning. I am such a "know it all".:( (Don't pay any attention to me.) I love to see peoples creative ideas no matter where they are painted.
I have a big mouth.

Because I'll probably have a vehicle in the driveway, I don't believe the artistry thingy is practical. Instead I plan on painting my roof. Contemplating a pic of Sadie Mae or Handiecast. Either should deter any would be break ins or alien invasion. :22yikes:

Thanks to all. I looked at the house with the color coated driveway again today, and have decided to cross it off my list of possibles. It just needs too much updating. My husband wasn't able to go with me, so I took a couple of long time friends to see several places and am narrowing it down. Looked at six places today and decided against three of them, so am now down to three.https://www.talkofthevillages.com/forums/images/smilies/pepper2.gif
Don't know what I did wrong, but the above is supposed to be the jumping pepper.

I was there when they did mine, I'm somewhat handy but this is not a job I would want to tackle on my own.

Be careful painting concrete in Florida. My hubs went to Lowe's and walked away with a recommended concrete paint. Unfortunately the paint peeled and chipped and looked horrible.
Although Lowe's/Home Depot are companies we depend on for expertise, they didn't tell us that PAINT for concrete is not recommended for humid Florida. The humidity will cause it to peel and chip! Research what I just said if you don't believe me.
Go with a stain if considering decorating your concrete. The stain will not chip and peel.
We hired an all lady company to redo our concrete and they sand blasted the old paint off then stained it. It looks beautiful and I couldn't be happier!

Where would a stained driveway be available for us to see?

Maybe a mural. You know, green on the bottom, blue on the top with lots of pink flamingos. Could even have a small pond in the middle with an alligator eyeing lunch. Now that would be a driveway to drive the neighbors crazy. :a040:

I was sure that we were the only ones in TV, without a painted driveway.....We are counting on having the most unique driveway in a few years - PLAIN!!!.....We can think of more OTHER things to do with $5000. The driveway painters must have some good looking salesman....giggle...
