We are currently customers of Verizon Wireless and are thinking about switching to At & T for our cellular service. About 4 years ago a friend of mine had A T & T and could not get service inside her house. If she wanted to talked on her phone she had to go outside of the house. Are there any A T & T customers living near the Village of Mallory and Caroline who use A T & T who could share with me how their phones work and how their receptions is? How about other areas of The Villages? I appreciate everyone's input. Many thanks.

I live north of CR 466 and have had Consumer Cellular for 4 years. They use the AT&T network. I have good connectivity, no dropped calls and I save a bunch of dollars with my no contract plan. I will admit that I basically use phone for calls and text messaging and do not have it glued to my ear all day long. Take a look at their plans and pricing before you commit to a 2 year contract. They have full range of phones and you pay for what you choose.

My M-I-L lived in Marion County and had AT&T and the coverage was less than acceptable. We live just north of 466, have always had Verizon and yet to have a dropped call or any other connectivity problem. They've been golden for calls, texting & data.

Live in Tamarind with Verizon- Sucks. Dropped calls every day, spotty reception unless outside. Switched from ATT two years ago. Experience was the same.

If you have an iPhone the problem is solved inside and around your house. iOS 9 has a setting to run phone service through a wifi network.

We are building in Oceola Hills and there in no reception with AT&T. A call to 611 solved the issue...as soon as we move in and install wifi.

In another thread House built after July 2015 can' use TV antenna it was posted.

My new house built in the Village of Osceola Hills since July 1 2015 is constructed with a radiant barrier lining the roof due to new energy efficiency codes. Last Saturday I had the audio visual (A/V) expert come to install an over the air (OTA) TV antenna in my attic. I wanted to "cut the cord" for cable TV. We discovered my attic is lined with a radiant barrier which renders signal reception impossible. SNIP..

Could this require cell phone users to walk in circles on the driveway while talking on the cell phone??

The newer homes have a foil backed sheeting on the roof to reject heat, this must also affect the cell signal. We live in Dunedin and 1 step out in the driveway I get 4 solid bars, walk inside under the roof it goes to 1 bar and dropped calls. I called Verizon they have signal boosters for inside the home, but are quite pricey. I am looking for a more reasonably priced solution.

We are South of 466a in Lake Deaton and have sketchy service with At&T. We usually have one bar, sometimes two bars. Data very slow when not on WiFi. Newer iPhones can be linked to home WiFi network which solves in-house problems.

Live in Sabal Chase. I have AT&T and wife has Verizon. We have no issues on either carrier where we live. The only part of the Villages where I have issues is when at Brownwood. Very spotty reception for me on AT&T. Nothing new here as other Villagers have complained also.

I have an iPhone 5s with Sprint and have lousy service here in Michigan and in my TV home (south of 466a). How do I link my iPhone to my home WiFi network? Thanks!

Update: I have always had my iPhone connected to my home wifi. Do I need to do more than that? Or, is that what is supposed to make the reception better? If so, it hasn't helped much in Michigan. I do like that my Panasonic home phone links to my cell phone and I can take cell phone calls on the home phone.
