Balanced Budget

I'm one of a minority that believe US budget should be balanced regardless if we do it with spending cuts or tax increases. The argument between the two parties just gives everyone cover so they don't have to face the tough decisions. A balanced budget with no loop holes would change politics as we know it. If social security was taxed at a higher rate, medicare coverage reduced, tax rates increased for all, and a special war tax accessed on all until the budget came into balance I'll bet I'd bet Hillary and Trump would loss their luster. During the last republican debate Rubio get the biggest applause when be proposed increasing military spending without paying for it. I suspect most on this forum also cheered at the line. Rand Paul was correct when he challenged Rubio but most didn't see it that way.

In 2010 I still had hope for President Obama when he formed the Simpson Bowles committee, but alas he never tried at all to implement.

This is the House proposal to balance the budget and we will wait and see..

There will be no progress as long as the political needs are a higher priority than the financial needs of the US government.........

and as long as the silent majority allows the cronyism stroking to continue!!
